Which website for game reviews?

Type in Google the name of the game you are after and add 'review' after it, and you will find many websites, such as IGN etc., giving reviews on new games.

There are so many out there I was just wondering which sites you guys used when you want a good, reliable review of a game? Especially PC games.

Seems there are many various ones, but as with everything there are the good and the bad...

So where do you look for your PC game reviews?

http://www.gamespot.com for me basically because they do video reviews and while I've not been looking at anything inparticular, I do enjoy their weekly 'On the Spot' show

Any particular format? I quite like to read Xbox specific sites for Xbox reviews and so on.

And of course, my reviews are totally unbiased! My Xbox 360 has yet to be returned, hence the recent shortage of Xbox 360 reviews, but we'll be back on track shortly.

I tend to only read a review in detail if I am interested in buying the game and there hasn't been much hype surrounding it. I am more into the news posting style of websites for gaming and prefer to watch game trailers rather than meticulously reading a review.

i like to use a site like metacritic, then read a couple of conflicting reviews from well-respected sources

it's rare for the consensus to be far wrong (but it DOES happen, e.g. silent hill 4 reviews are generally favorable)

I always check game rankings as well not really a review site mor of a portal but its interesting to look at sometimes

Seconding Metacritic.

Also some games like Overlord defy reviewers because they get lower scores (in the 80s) but then turn out to be brilliant. Methinks they didn't get all the t-shirts they wanted from the publisher.

i wish game scores weren't skewed

80s isn't low, 80s is good. <50s is low
