I've run it successfully using Vista Ultimate x64 with all publicly available updates and Nvidia's new beta drivers. I installed those two performance and compatibility hotfixes but I'm not sure if they affect this game or your resolve the problem you're experiencing. It might be worth a try in your case (?)

Yep I installed those two updates through Windows Update when they first came out, so I'm at the same stage as you. Strangely, when I install the demo, it doesn't place a folder in the start menu... I have to find the Bioshock folder in Computer and run it from there. Hoping this is just an issue with the demo and the full game will work ok!

Re: Bio Shock PC Demo Out Now!

Using the advanced installation option doesn't create Start Menu items by default. I'm not sure what it does in Express mode though. Considering Vista is supposed to consolidate game shortcuts in one folder I guess there's less of a requirement to create additional links.

ive had 0 problems with it on my vista x64 at all. Downloaded through steam.

I loved it. This is really going to be a great game..

I really loved the Dx10 stuff at the very start where the plane wreckage is reflecting all the flames coulours into the dark water. True eye candy stuff.

Re: Bio Shock PC Demo Out Now!

In addition to which, that thread's title clearly states 'BioShock PC Demo Tonight!' whereas this one is 'Bio Shock PC Demo Out Now!'

They are obviously in no way related. Thus a new thread was born. Praise da lord!

Just to follow this up, the only way I could get it to run was to set compatibility mode to WinXP SP2... worth a try if any other Vista users out there have similar problems.

Errr... three. I PMed gtech and admins yesterday, and have had no response. I didn't think three friendly posts in three different sections would cause calamitus, but I'll take any advice you have to give on being misquoted and unfairly represented. Although you did go straight to the post, rather than the PM - as you're asking me a direct question, isn't that basically spamming..?

Edit: I'm sorry, magneticman, this isn't meant to offend you. If you're a proper Hexus forumer, you've seen the damage gtech has been doing. You'll understand my frustration with him misquoting me and his apparent ignorance of what "Unread: 1" means for his inbox. You'll appreciate, if you use that handle on other forums, that an online reputation does mean something. And you'd probably PM me if you understood that and genuinely were asking me a question. Please feel free to PM me. I'm a nice guy! I'm primarily here to find bargains for Hexusites and thank them for their bargain-finding!
