Why? Cos I play it 4 or 5 times per week, pay monthly, and still enjoy it. The latest version has a huge map, loads of the events this year have been good, and my Clan is teetring towards greatness

But the game itself is based on a very old game. Luckily it has really major overhauls. Which occured this year.
Need to increase the level past 80! or 78 whichever it was. I think necros are too overpowered. Played on private servers and I got bored of it in the end. All I used to do is go out and wait for someone to start a fight and make some enemies
I admit it's nice to play with friends while on Vent or TS.

Re: Game Of The Year 2007

My nomination would be Forza Motorsport 2.

I've always loved racing games and Forza 2 in my opinion is the best one to date. It just feels so so good to drive, I can spend hours just going round a lap trying to shave a few seconds off my time. I used to have race nights with my mates each Sunday night, doesn't happen anymore unfortunately but we used to have some epic endurance races. Pit strategies ruled the day!

I think if I played Super Mario Galaxy, it's likely that it'd be right up there cause it looks and sounds like so much fun. But from all the games I've played, it has got to be Forza Motorsport 2.

I think Crysis was sightly overhyped really. COD4 looks amazing but not played yet!

Could you suggest any games out there that I really should be playing? I always thought I wasn't missing out, but I don't read about consoles so I wouldn't know even if I was missing something really great.

I've been tempted to buy an XBOX360. partly for its wifi connection, but when I saw the price of the new Xbox's and then the wifi ad ons and stuff, I was horrified. It was around £600 or so. That might be cheaper now though.

CoD 4 & GRAW 2 ftw! Can't choose between them.

Closely followed by Bioshock, Crysis, HL2 Ep2, FEAR Perseus Mandate (expansion pack, but I'm a FEAR Junkie)

Just got hacked off with STALKER's bugs, great game tho.

pc: call of duty 4

crysis is too much like far cry and the aiming on the guns seems inaccurate.

a 360 elite, with 3 decent games & 2 wireless controllers, is about £330 right now. that's a pretty good deal, all things considered. the wireless dongle is overpriced, granted, but it's still some way from £600.

games to play? depends on what you're into really. most genres are well represented

Re: Game Of The Year 2007

The one game that I really enjoyed this year and played through so many times I care not to remember how many times, best attempt at sandbox gameplay and had layers of atmosphere - STALKER. The crashes and bugged quests did distract but by far the most ambitious game for a good while. At least someone has the balls to make a novel game these days and not yet another sequal FPS (COD4).

Special places in me for Bioshock (level design), COD4 (intensity and prettiness), and Portal for something fresh.
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...

Re: Game Of The Year 2007

Supreme Commander - This game ate most of my time so have to get a mention. When played properly this induces some jaw droppingly huge battles with seat of your pant tactical changes

* Serious gamer award

Call of Duty 4 - Some will say it's just a rehash of the same old formula, and it is, but bloody hell what a formula! Spectacular graphics, frantic action and those dogs, ARGH! Many memorable moments

* Optimisation award
* Intense action award

Crysis - Yes it's Farcry 2007. I don't care, it's farcry (bloody brilliant) and the the technical and graphical accomplishment is light years ahead of anything else we've seen this year. Until you've playing this game on high x 1280x1024 minimum you really can't appreciate the detail the game has - it's utterly stunning.

* Technical accomplishment award

Super Mario Galaxy deserves a mention too

Re: Game Of The Year 2007

I would give Team Fortress 2 game of the year. Or maybe the orange box in total, at £26 it can count as one game right? 3 superb games in one package. I really want UT3 to be it, but I think it falls short of what alot of PC gamers wanted it to be because it has been adapted to suit consoles as well. That said I like UT3 quite alot still, but not finding it as compelling as UT2K4 was/is. I really liked stalker as well, particularly for giving to player freedom to make their own path instead of efectively just a long convoluted corridor that most games give you to play in.

Im going to get this Mario Galaxy game though, for the Wii. (Once the Wii prices come back down).
