They are just Vietnam now from what I understand. They dont do Bad Company 2 I believe anymore. You can get Vietnam for a tenner now, its really cool as its close combat, being a sniper is hard with the older type weaponry.

Going to start an Engineer today I think, bit of luck that will up my KD ratio

Loving the G3 at the moment. Will look at Vietnam, I was a big player of BF-Vietnam, is the hastings map layed out the same as original?

Yeah, but don't you need the Steam version to get it on Steam for a tenner? I only have the retail copy. Can probably get a retail copy of Vietnam as well though. Shame I didn't get it on Steam, would've made life easier I think.

    Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2

I think you can get it from the EA Store, literally all you need is the key and the game does the rest for you. Granted I have the Steam version but when I purchased it, it didnt download anything. Once ingame I just clicked Vietnam and entered the serial number and that was it unlocked.

I tried the Engineer and couldnt get away with the weaponry at all, so decided to just go for the Assault class and for the first time on a map with 14 players I scored over 1000. I dont have the patience for Recon methinks as I move up and get in the thick of it, hence my death ratio. So its time to start levelling Assault and i think I will stick with that class.

Best thing about Vietnam is the music, the maps get boring pretty quickly tbh..

A few people have said that which is why I've held back from buying it. Is the hastings map the same lay-out as the original?

I like the weapons on 'Nam, but I can only stand so much mud for so long. Although some of the desert and snow maps on classic BFBC2 too piss me off, where all I can see is cream or white, total lack of visibility pisses me off.

    Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2

The Vietnam maps are a mixed bunch IMHO. Hastings is good, as long as the teams are reasonably well balanced, Phu Bai is pretty rubbish, Hill 137 is my personal favourite and the Temple map is very mediocre.

    Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2

Vietnam got me back into BF2BC tbh but as above the maps do get stale quickly. I still think the weapon balance is about as good as we'll get.

Ferral, glad you accepted the friend request. I jumped on that Nam server and tbh the players there are why I don't do public's much

Although you jumping around a corner and shooting me in the face with a M79 wasn't very nice

I'm normally on the GSV server later on in the evenings.

I tried searching for the GSV server last night and couldn't find it. Is it a public server? Would I be able to join you guys one night for a game?

    Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2

I didnt realise you were on the server Geist. But people do tend to get shot in the face when I'm around as when I use an automatic weapon I fire up the torso to make sure I get them good. My favourite lately is using the grenade launcher at short range, instadeath!

I'm trying to think who you were on the server. By any chance were you sitting up on top of an objective on the scorched hill map and stopped for a few seconds to get shot from the other objective point?

My KDR is pretty bad which I'm not really bothered about, I just try and go for the objectives and support actions to get my score up. Also dropping Recon and starting assault class has been a good thing, my ratio hasnt been as bad since, unless I end up on a team that sits at the back wondering what to do next and I go running in to try and get things moving again. Usually ends up with my ratio being something like 8/15

    Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2

The GSV server is on vannilla (bc2) under "GSV Fun not Frags". I play under "AP Geist" if you want to add me to friends.

Sorry Gav' I've never bought or played any map packs and can't remember ever needing them to play on a server.

That might have been me but I was thinking of another time. After a quick firefight for an objective you ran around a corner to reload. I chased to stab you viscously . Instead you shot me in the face with grenade launcher!

Objectives and throwing medic/ammo packs will always get you to the top of the score board over K/D(although it won't hurt ).

Yeah, I'll look out for the GSV server, I do like to just play for fun. I think I remember hitting you with the grenade. Snow covered level near the base beside the train tracks, point blank virtually!

You wouldn't need any map packs Geist, PC players are automatically given VIP status and get that content for free. Console players have to pay for it.
