Hmmm....Am i being paranoid? Shame he doesn't represent the massive amount of console gamers as well which provide one or two quids worth of income to the dev/publishers.

Regarding speeds I'm aware of upload, I had assumed with higher speed BB the upload increases (as it does on any i've seen, upto a limit)
The home connection being used by others is the same regarding 9v9 or 100v100 so really it's only speed that makes any difference. My question was...why 9v9 & will this possible increase.

Yeah, but the highest upload (correct me if i'm wrong) you can get in this country - commericially - is 2mb from Be I think, but most will have far, far less I would think. It's only relatively recently the 'upto 1mb' was offered to everyone.

    Disaster.

Dedicated servers are fair. Want to know why that player always seems to get the drop on you when you're playing Call of Duty on Xbox 360? It might be because he's the host of the game
    - PC Gamer blog.

Im sorry but what utter BS. I seem to forget the copious amounts of cheating and running scripts that goes on in every game which lets the guy get drop on me - dedicated server or not. Not to mention this can happen if someones got a lower ping than you on a dedicated server or not.

What have consoles got to do with this? The console game is just like the last one, only the PC version is being messed with.

You suggested that there could be 10mb connections that would allow larger numbers of players, I was pointing out that you're lucky to get 1mb upload speeds in the UK and most other countries, infact my upload speed on a 10mb connection is 512k.

Dedicated servers can and do offer up to 64 players with a latency of 30, yet Infinity Ward boast of getting pings of 100 on 9v9.

The question is why alienate soo many of your potential customers by offering an inferior multiplayer experience?

You any suggestions, cos I have my own idea and it's to do with DLC and a business model no doubt pushed by short sighted publishers who have no understanding of PC gaming communities.

The funny thing is how this fiasco has saw other developers rush to big up dedicated servers, they've spotted a massive opportunity in the market as what was no doubt thought of as a massively entrenched competitor has shot itself in the foot.

The developers at DICE must be rubbing their hands in glee at this.

The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx

LoL, p2p match making won't stop the cheating, infact it will make it worse as VAC is even worse than Punk Buster and there will be no ability to kick cheaters from games like there was with dedicated servers.

yes lower ping will make a difference but atleast with dedicated servers you can choose the server that gives you the lowest, like has been said IW muppets were boasting of 100 ping, most PC gamers wouldn't touch a server that offered them that, let alone one where the host gamer has a ping of 0.

I don't know whether I can justify buying it now, or whether I just wait until a 'proper' multiplayer patch comes out?

This game will be pirated like mad and we will then have to listen to Infinity Ward/Activision cry and bitch about their poor little lost sales, despite the fact it is a situation entirely of their own making.
You're right, many will just resort to piracy in order to play it and then five or ten years down the line the PC games industry will be in even more trouble and there'll be no "I'm boycotting Game X in favour of Game Y" because there will be no game Y. If you don't intend on buying a game because it's features don't match you're expectation that's fine, but the tone of your original post suggests to me and several other members by the looks of things that you condone piracy (in MW:2's case at least) and your attitude in your replys after that post does little to dissuade me from that assumption.

There's a fine line to be walked here and you're not that far from stepping over it. While piracy will happen and you're welcome to discuss the effects it may have, encouraging piracy and discussing the use of illegal torrents won't be tolerated here or anywhere else on Hexus, not that I'm saying you'd be that silly of course

Re: MW2 review embargo, anyone know when it's lifted?

To all those telling people who moan about the lack of dedicated server to shut up can i just tell you to shut up, we have as much right to moan about it as we want. I never ever play stock COD4 anymore, i play on custom map and mod servers namely the BPCOD4 tournament. This tournament (and BFE before it) has been running on COD games for years and years now and this tradition has just been pissed on because IW dont really give a crap about the gamers all they care about is the money they will rake in at the end of the year. Yes its business etc etc but im still a customer and im still entitled to my opinion be it dissapointed or completely and utterly furious. Yes console is where most of the money comes from but the console sales are console sales and they dont really change the PC sales do they. IMO they have just cut out a chunk of cash from their profits because they cant be arsed to continue making little alterations to the game for the now smaller audience.
There is no record featre and no console which means there is NO COMPETETIVE PLAY AT ALL so what happens when people go to LAN tournaments such as the i series? Yes thats right people will still be playing COD4 and CSS.

Oh and for those who think the PC is going to make anywhere near the sales of COD4
    http://www.gametracker.com/search/?q...chpge=1#search

    Im doubting it.

COD:MW2 might be an awesome game and IWNet might work suprisingly well but it doesnt change the blatent and quite disgusting disregard for the needs and desires of the PC gamer followed by complete ignorence of the complaints made about it. I cant see it being nearly as much of a worldwide success as COD4, if im totally honest i think its just gunna be a short flash in the pan game like COD:W@W was. Lets hope treyarch have learned from this and they dont mess up with their next excursion.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 looks promising as a modern warefare shooter but I would also keep an eye on Steam/Valve, IWs slip up does definately opens a door for other developers and i would put them in a good position to develop something really interesting (CS:S 2 )
