Nicely back on topic by the Monkeyman See, he's not just a pretty face

Got to admit, I can't wait to have another bash at it myself. Looks stunning.

I've got my dirty mitts on Windows XP64 bit edition but I'm not going to install it until the weekend, so I can dualboot onto a different drive and test XP-64 without killing my MCE setup I already have

Does making the game 64bit really make it look that much better? If it does I will have to patch it as I have a 64bit cpu.

the patch is a marketing gimick.

does 64 bit registers allow for better textures? no, the new textures in the patch do. it's the same throughout - it's not because it's 64 bit, it's because it's AMD Athlon 64(tm)(r)(c), and AMD paid a lot of money for it

back when ut2004 was released, there were 2 new assault maps which would only install on windows xp, as microsoft paid for them as advertising for xp as a gaming platform. people repackaged the maps in a .zip for use on other windowses, mac and linux, of course

Yeah, but I'd like to see a benchmark of the extra textures view distance etc on the 32bit and see how they compare. If I read the article at Anandtech correctly they were benchmarking the 32 bit version without the extra image quality, and the 64 bit version with the extra image quality and still getting preforance improvements (although very small).
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

Agreed, but who really cares. I have no trouble giving my money to AMD they make better processors for my needs than Intel.

The better IQ does look nice.
