firstly, your monitor issue - is it a CRT or TFT? If it is a CFT then why do you want to use such a setting? especially with your graphics card, 800x600 would give you a much smother game without sacrificing much, or 1024x768...if it's a tft (unlucky if it is ) and 1280x1024 is it's native resolution then you can force it by editing the shortcut you use to run the game, look here to find out how: http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html

Sprinting problem i don't have a clue about sry ;/

Guided aiming (A.K.A auto-aim in most games) is almost never enabled in multiplayer games as it takes away alot of the skill - it is viewed as a cheat by many players.

BFHQ not working is either a problem with your net conneciton, or more than likely one of the many bugs in BF2 ;/

Heh the asian version is identical afaik except ofc you dont get the manual/box unless you pay the seller a fortune (assume u got it from ebay, its flooded with asian games). I would never reccomend buying these, I know they are cheap but you have no comeback if it doesnt work (most sellers only offer refunds for damaged discs; with somewhere like game etc you can at least try it on with them to get a full refund if you dont like the game )But anyway the code is the same so it shouldnt cause any of your problems

    hope that's helped you
I don't mean auto-aim. but when you fire a missile you can manually guide it to the target by moving the crosshair. Looks like the "missile" turned into "rocket" in multiplayer. (You can shoot the missile and curve it into your target in single player, i.e. to avoid the wall or hill)

I'm using a 17" LCD here now. 1024 really sucks. Used to 1600 on my 2001FP.

Since I forced 2x FSAA on the text looks a bit blur, but IT IS 1280 in the menu. I'm in Hong Kong now (holiday) so I bought BF2 here.

BF2 DOES need 1.5GB+ of memory to run smoothly. 1G+6800GT will lags like hell. 2G+6600GT can run smoothly. Takes me 40 second to load a level (or 4 Minutes if the game is optimising shaders) and 9 seconds from desktop into game menu. Game use 826,424K memory at my setting. Still 796000K ram left There can be improvements.

    What do I need?

    A gig of good ram?

    Or a 10 000rpm HD?

    Cheers

A minimum of 1gig memory, ideally 2gig. With 2gig you would notice much faster loading times and no stuttering when starting the map.

What is this 50k server you speak of and how do I get onto it?

I'd love to play with some fellow Hexites. My in-game nick is "FinalGorilla".

Why not get some cheaper corsair value in 2x 1gig flavour surely that would be better if you are bf2'ing

nope, corsair/crucial value is very good reliable ram it just doesnt have the low latencies that the posh stuff has, which according to crucial (i think) makes about 5% difference at best. i think in bf2 youd get a larger benefit from 2gig.

Yep your better off with 2 gigs of ram that cost 100 pounds, as long as it from a realiable maker, than you are with a single gig of ram that cost 150 pounds, at least in BF2.
