Personally, I think Vista will be a good thing, XP is getting boring now, its time for something new. As for Halo 2, its really no competition for HL2

You saw Vista Media Centre(er) Edition (Home Premium Edition/Ultimate Edition) presumably? I wasn't explicitly thinking about it's visual interface either As far as real IT guys not using Windows, that's just crazy.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

Well they weren;t touting it as Vist MCE or Home or Pro or wobbly bells on... They were just touting it as Vista.

And can someone put me straight on this, I thought Longhorn was what we now have as XP 64 Bit?

That'd be me then. As self-proclaimed Halo PC obsessor, I find it my duty to say about time. It is a pity that it will require Vista to run - and in the long run the cost of upgrades goes way over the total cost of just connecting my Xbox to Live - however as one who prefers the PC games I really am excited by this.

im not sure the is going to be a standalone 'Vista MCE' as media Centre is just considered part of Vista. Only certain versions will have it though i expect (you know, theyre planning like 7 versions or somthing....home/pro/ultimate etc)

I heard the MS will ship one disc for every version of vista (14 odd) and you'll just 'unlock' the features with your licence key/buying upgrades (applying cra.. ) which makes sense as it'll lower production costs and allow them to keep selling you stuff..

Well could be worse - the disc could contain just the start of the install process and you have to download the rest of the OS from MS..

Besides, I think MS will release Halo2 to work on XP, but it'll be one of those 'to get the full experience you need Vista' type things - which in this case could be comparing a DirectX10 engine to a PS2.0 one.

Isn't this the same as saying 'only on xbox 360' or something??

Only in this case you gotta buy a new O/S ...not games console.

Nothing cheeky about it at all.....
