If this is anything like BF2, then EA are going to screw it up. It will be late, still feel rushed, and buggy as hell.

Is this on a new engine or is it the BF2 one? Because they did the same thing with BF:Vietnam tweak the engine slightly call it something else and sell it for as much as possible for what is only a mod.

I won't be buying into the Battlefield series again. BF2 was a pile of dung dressed in fancy clothes. With EA screwing over the modding community.

Aye hopefully it won't be as buggy as bf2...the crash to desktops are really starting to get on my nerves.

And you realise you can run bf2 in widescreen by tweaking your desktop shortcut, don't you?

Good God, I thought someone had posted on behalf of me then!

As for BF2142, it uses a 'tweaked' version of the BF2 engine, and I think they're adding a bit of HDR too.

I hope they put more detail into this next battlefield game, I want to see next gen consoles pushed, I dont just want to see the same kind of graphics I would expect from a middle-of-the-road PC these days....

Why? Middle of the road pc's sell more than the hardcore "more money than sense market". If you want to sell lots of games then you will need to cater for all elements of the market, not just the top 5% who can afford to spend £400+ on a gfx card. I'd rather they got the game "right" than worry about the gfx pushing the top-end cards to the limit.

beanbandit, because I have an Xbox360, I want Next Generation, near pointless ammounts of detail.... I will rarely be using my PC for gaming these days, as most of the games I want to play are on XB360 anyway.... I want to see my XBox360 pulling its weight, not being held back by the PC market.

Althiough I love the gameplay in Battlefield Modern Combat, I can't help looking at it and thinking that the graphics aren't much of a leap from Desert Combat that I played on a comparitively low spec pc when it was out.....

2142 is way too early, if you ask me. it's only been a year since BF2 and from what i can see there's no real improvement on the engine (in fairness apart from the stability there doesnt really need to be yet). i think they should have waited another year to give us something truly special and superior in terms of graphics/physics etc.

It'll be huge, guarenteed. I only hope the patch system in this one doesn't radically change the enitre gameplay and tactics at every patch.

im going to buy quake wars but no way am i going to give EA more money when they allowed the release of a buggy game then allowed it to get ruined,

the fact EA are letting Dice make this game so soon shows they have eitehr given up on bf2 or just want to squeeze more money out of people

pisses me off what EA have done tbh

Ah right ok sorry, I run at 1280x800 but I can't see much different between that and 1024x768...

Oh yeah and they need to do something about tking for vechiles...like for mechs in this case, it's the only big gripe i have with players in the game.

I'm just so frustrated with BF2 anyway- I just can't be bothered playing it anymore.
When you can just dive into a game with CS:S, DOD:Source, Prey, FarCry etc - no stuffing about -
It should be of critical importance to developers that you're waiting no more than a minute or two from starting the same, until you're on a map and fragging away.
I'm just worried that 2142 is going to be a complete disaster on this front also -

By the time I get home from work, I've got maybe an hour to play, and will play on maybe 3-4 different servers with different map rotations - subtract a good 5-8 minutes to load BF2, find a decent ranked server and load the map. That's enough time to have half a bottle of beer - so by the time you've started playing, you've got to get another beer anyway!
At least with Prey - time to find a game: seconds, time to load map - maybe a minute.
CS:S, same, even COD - no more than a minute or two. (I've not played COD2 yet, so don't know if that's longer)
Netcode is better and more robust, plus players seem to have a better attitude
Only once have I had to flame someone on a server playing DOD or CS:S, but it's constant bickering on BF2 servers as far as I can see

I gave up on BF2 for the exact same reasons, I spend most of my gaming time playing WoW so inbetween I just want something fast I can fire up and shoot stuff, BF2 is just too much hassle. I cant really see 2142 being any better so Ill hold out for the Quake one instead.
