So BF2142, will it be that big?

    Hi all.....

This is going to be the next "big" release in the EA battlefield series, due october which is not that far away! But how big do you reckon it'll be? I honestly think that EA have gone a tad to far just like Westwood did when they realeased Tiberian Sun in the Command and Conquer series! It just became unrealistic and the enjoyment of the orginal game was lost imo, well it did for me anyway.

Games like Quake were always unrealistic and thats what people liked about it but with the Battlefield Series, since 1942 it was always a game where "realism" was the objective and I'm just afraid people will turn off to bf2142 as it just looks like mechwarrior!

    Any opinions on this?

They either support widescreen gaming, or i am not biting. Other than that, I think it could be interesting. It'll all come down to the Mechs for me - how easy are they to control, and do they unbalance the gameplay (ie will everyone be running to get into one).

Yeah that seems to be an important factor imo! I mean this 1.3 patch has been sending people absolutely nuts! Especially ranked server owners. When you having an ace round on Karkland, "There is a problem with your connection" arhghghghghghghhggh! Lets just hope 1.4 has sorted these issues! Players are so narked that they just don't bother rejoining after a server crash!

The thing is, even though it has a kujillion problems, people still put up with it! Which says a lot about the game imo.

I was never to sure of the ranking system though, it just turned players "different" i.e a bit selfish, trying to go out and getting awards whilst forgetting about teamplay! But its all seemed to have got better now people are bored of earning ranks and teamplay is sorta back for most players!

Widescreen support would be a good thing too! Agreed!

I help run a bf2 community "50K" dunno if any of you have heard of it, anyway............. everyone over there seems pretty geared up for this release! Its nearly October as well which is the scary thing! So not long left to wait!

No doubt we'll be getting some ranked servers for this but I just hope the game will bode well with existing bf2 players as its going to be something totally different imo. As for the classes for both sides I hope its fair!

I remember when the beta version of bf2 came out, the map they gave you was gulf of oman! Which still today is probably in my top 3 maps for exciting teamplay!

I have a feeling that these maps are goona be huge due to these mech things trundling about! That can be either good or bad imo. Too big that it takes forever to get anywhere but thats good for teamplay or if the map is too small its just going to be manic!

Personally I never thought that bf2 was a let down. I'll admit for me, it was never as good as bf1942 and its mod called DC but the thing I like about bf2 is the squadding up and its teamplay. VOIP is much better than using Teamspeak. I assume all these aspects of bf2 wil be in 2142 but its not too long to wait now.

Yeah its dissapointing on the ea side of things it really is. This 1.3 patch imo is a bit of a joke more than anything else especially server side. It keeps crashing the server and people start to get frustrated which doesn't do ea any favours for keeping gamers game (if that kinda makes sense) I'm sure it was a simple fix that ea could have sorted and subsequently realease a 1.3.1 patch but oh no, they make us wait for 1.4!

Mind you though, I was saved by one of those messages before. Was having a bad game and earned a purple heart! But it didn't quite register due to the server crash!

But it is really frustrating, many a times when it crashes I just can't be bothered to go back in for a game, as its annoyed you that much!

I just hope the draw distance is better with the aircraft (no more jets ). I also want to see bigger maps, they were far too small in BF2 even the 64 mans.
