I'm seriously considering a 360 mostly because of GoW, there are other reasons I want one but GoW is the main reason right right now. My mate said it was every bit as good as he had hoped. From a personal angle its one of the hottest games out right now and I have to play it.
Are the graphics as good as seen on the TV advert or is that advert just pre-rendered stuff?

Actually I disagree...they look better in-game than they do in the shots
1) 1980x1080 isn't high enough?
2) you're talking about unreal tournament 2007, designed ground-up for pc gamers
as kempez says.
you remember all those early unrealengine 3 shots? this wench here: http://www.unrealtechnology.com/screens/p_bezerker.jpg
well GoW doesn't look anything like that. now, if you had ten or so of those, all moving, against an even more detailed background, you're getting towards GoW
i'm an enormous fan of non photorealistic graphics - games like tron 2.0 or rez do it for me. but GoW is the best looking game on any system, period. and that includes crysis on pc.
"’Til there’s something else. (chuckles) People ask me, “Are you going to do it on PC?” Yeah, eventually…I don’t think that’s any great secret that we would like to do it on PC, but for now it’s a 360 game. Eventually we’ll get around to a PC version. I just don’t know when.
That’s worked successfully for Halo. Halo was a big seller on PC long after it kind of peaked on the original Xbox, and they’re doing the same thing now with Halo 2. We work at the pleasure of a publisher who thinks both of those are their platforms, so I think it’s ultimately inevitable, and obviously we’re a PC company.
The big challenge is to make a game that was designed solely for the console…to take advantage of every last little corner of that console, to fill every little crack and run as many threads as we could and do as much to exploit the power of that machine, and make it run well on enough PCs to be worth releasing. That’s a challenge. UT will help us there, because Unreal Tournament 3 will be kind of our vanguard PC product, and it’s helping us get optimization on the PC. So it’s just a matter of, now, can we make Gears run on enough PCs that it’s worth selling…or do we have to wait in five years until everyone has a PC that can run it?
It’s inevitable, but it’s just not there today."

I must say I really enjoyed Gears of War on the 360 but for me the PC is always better for FPS games. Aiming with an analog stick just lacks something imho. I'm not sure 1 game justifies me getting a 360 but Gears of War and Mass Effect might be enough. I hate exclusives!!! Games are always cheaper on the PC too
GoW is third person, not first person
Technically yes but it plays like an FPS and the fine aiming is done first person too. Regardless I was using the term more generically. Perhaps I should have said shooters and better on the PC in my opinion.
