One of my older brothers had it a few years back and he said it does hurt alot.
wouldnt be so happy about it... did it some years back and it wasnt the best experience
Quite fast though will be gonne before u notice... problems start after the first 3 hours it hurts a lot AND I MEAN ALOT!!!
My first week was horrible since it bleeds alot and you need to change the bandage very often (PAIN + PAIN + PAIN), spent most of my summer holidays on the sofa since i couldnt move much.
Also you do realize you cant use shoes during the first month (doctor orders) since you might force the growing nail down again. Happened just that to me ended with me cutting my own toe so the nail could freely grow, not very nice for a while but saved me going trough the whole process again.
That was my experience didn’t mean to scare but you are better off prepared, still I guess in the end it did pay off since i never had problems again.
i had the same toe done last year and the doctor did not finish it properly hence why it has come back so bad. last time i had it i was only off a week.
I had mine done 15 years ago (age 2), I had both of my big toenails removed, being 2 I dont remember much about it, although I was told I certainly let everyone know I was hurting

i sorted mine with scissors and tweasers...the way a man does it
lmao..
Has happened to me twice on my right foot. First time was very painfull but I only had kitchen scissors :/ didnt acctually matter it was easy to do just very hard to sit in a way that I could see my toe.
17th is a long time away and it will only get more painfull..
luckyily the cliinic gave me a solution that soffens the skin around the toe that is giving me some relef. also my feet dont smell so i can slide my shoes off if it urts too much
I've had both my toenails off, one about 12 years ago, the other about 2.
I'm not sure I'll ever forget watching the nurse grasping my toenail with her tongs and pulling it back away from my toe until it broke off...

I had the toenail of my big toe cut in half and pulled out, that wasn't pleasant.
EDIT to reflect the post below;
Lots of blood, lots and lots, weeks of pain, accelerator pressing hurt like hell, baggy shoes and socks for two weeks, bandages, heaving.
It's fine now.
Now now, lets not totally freak out the OP!

to woman who saw me said that there used to be two was of doing it. one was where they pull the nail untill it comes off(i.e. the civilised way) and the other where they cut the flesh of the toe and and lift it out( the not so civil way). also i have a day of exams 6 days after the procedure. looks like best stock up on heavy painkillers
Im not sure how mine was done, my sister had a small ingrown part on her big toe, she had that burnt off with Acid or something IIRC.
