Two friends of mine are vegans and they did the Camino to Santiago de Compostella a couple of years back and said they had loads of trouble getting at least vegetarian food as Spaniards regard ham as a kind of vegetable.
Nope, it's down to fashion. Somehow they got it into their head that it's "cool" to be vegetarian, so they decided to lie a little.
I really don't mind them eating meat - as stated previously it's a personal choice thing, but to me being vegetarian means not eating animals, be they mammals, fish, birds, insects, molluscs, WHATEVER.

I went to a Greek restaurant in York and ordered the vegetarian pasta, expecting something with tomatoes and maybe mushrooms. Imagine my surprise when I was served Ham Tagliatelle. I sent it back and asked to speak with the manager, who insisted that vegetarians in Greece happily eat ham. I don't know if he was lying (though I have my suspicions) but I burst out laughing. So much so that I was escorted from the premises by men with moustaches.
They they are using ingreadients from cows right? so do these companies actually do there own killing/get someone to do it for them. Or do they jsut get the left overs from a meat factory after they have finished making there burgers? Cause if the later is the case, how does it matter anyway, as its already dead and wasnt killed for the purpose of the chocolate?

And chicken. Lovely, plump chicken.
In the UK it's very well defined that vegetarianism is no fish, flesh or fowl, but abroad the definition varies hugely - the most common descrepency is with fish/seafood, rather understandably as fish don't have the neural capacity to conciously react to pain in a stick/carrot sense, which nullifies one (and only one, there are many others) of the reasons some people are veggie.
Obviously that isn't the reason I don't eat most fish
Actually you know what? I have a greek housemate and he just came in as I was reading this thread so I asked him. His best mate is veggie and he says he would possibly eat ham if it was given to him in pasta or whatever, BUT! He says food has a green V if it's suitable! That shocked me! Since France, Spain, Germany all don't and I'd have thought Greece is less veggie friendly than those countries!
Best country for me would be India though. Love indian food and everything is labelled there, country wide
Lets throw this into the mix...
What about eggs?
Are eggs veggie?
IMO they are not, but I still eat egg products as they are unavoidable (even V marked food could have eggs in)...
The reason I don't eat fish is 'cos it's horrible. I've not eaten fish since I was... ooh, 6 or 7. I've been vegetarian since I was 14, and the only thing I miss is liver and onions *drool*
Anyways, Mars loses my custom, but as I'm more of a Green & Blacks fan I doubt they'll care.
