If your taking about the diamond thing, then right now it's very poor, the size and quality is poor but when I die in about 80-90 years, the process should be very refined. But by then I could probably be turned into anything.

Turned into a mummy would be good. Mummies sell for pretty good money.

True but unless you happened to live during the time of the Pharaohs or created your own empire before you die, I don't think you would be worth much as a mummy.

I was wondering why I have recently turned green, and my blood has solidified into a gelatinous goop. I expect it's too much lime flavoured jelly in my diet. Although I do leave the bathroom fresher and zestier than when I went in, which is a nice change for my other half

    Well, yes and no.

Legally, it isn't up to the deceased at all. You can express wishes, in your will or otherwise, but they aren't legally binding on your executor. Nor, necessarily, will the executor have legal authority over the disposal of the remains - too many variables can affect that, including where and how you die. This is why I said in my post about my wishes that I'd made my wishes explicitly clear, in writing, to those that need to know what those wishes were. But, the general situation is that funeral arrangements are the province of the executor who is morally obliged to carry out the wishes of the deceased, even if not legally obliged to do so (especially if there are practical difficulties or excessive costs associated with those wishes).

My view is that MY funeral is all about saying goodbye to me, and if people are prepared to hold a funeral because they want one, in spite of it being categorically against my clear and vehement (and written) wishes, then not only is it not exactly respectful of my wishes, but it is extremely disrespectful, and since my wife fully understands my wishes and is quite happy to go along with it, it isn't likely to happen.

If anybody else wants to hold a funeral for me, well, if I have anything to do with it, they can do so if they wish, but they can pay for it themselves and not expect any contribution at all from my estate, and they can do it without my presence, and they can do it entirely against my wishes. And if they still wish to do it despite my adamant objections, then as far as I'm concerned it's about the ultimate disrespect for me that they could possibly show and, whether family or friend, I disown them utterly.

Of course, if you are devious enough and have a really nasty turn of mind when it comes to getting your wishes followed, take a good look at the use of conditional legacies in your will. There are some legal gotchas you have to be careful of, but a bit of careful wording can work wonders.

I'd like a few things happen. Used for Medical experiments for the good. Frozen so I may come back. Launched into space and hopefully come in contact with a black hole, wormhole, or intelligent life. (Hopefully they would do something, nothing bad though).

My wish is buried, but are you really going to be bothered that its not carried out? You will have no say in the matter!!

Yes, I'm bothered. My personal experience is that funeral directors (or at least the ones I've dealt with) are gouging the bereaved at their most vulnerable time, and are a bunch that my (admittedly limited) experience has let me to regard as utterly contemptible. It is, in my view, a highly cynical and very nasty piece of exploitation, and I went through it ONLY because the deceased had expressed clear wishes as to what they wanted done, and I had no option but to use these people unless I wished to ignore the wishes of the person whose funeral I was arranging. I did not wish to disrespect my loved one like that, so though I put up with the gouging, I did not like it one little bit.

So, I've done everything I can to prevent that situation happening to whomever is arranging my departure, which hopefully will be my wife because if it isn't, it means she didn't outlive me. She has no doubt about either my wishes or the strength of my feelings on this matter. She has my wishes very clearly expressed, in writing, so that if anyone else (family or otherwise) criticises or tries to exert emotional pressure, she can refer them to the fact that she's merely complying with my wishes.

So I do have a say in the matter, and I've said it. Whether I'll know if my wishes are carried out or not is another matter, as is whether I'll know if they aren't or not. My personal belief is that dead is dead, and there's naff-all beyond that. Once electrical activity in the brain has ceased, it's ceased and that's that. But I could be wrong, and perhaps some element of spirit, or soul, carries on. For all I know, spiritualists are right and the souls of the dead can observe us, and perhaps even interact. Who knows? I don't believe that, but I can't prove it either way.

Nor do I know that ghosts don't exist and that hauntings can't happen. I believe it's a load of cobblers, but I certainly can't be sure, and I rather doubt anyone else can either. That's why, in my first post, I said that if such afterlife does exist, I'll be doing my very best to come back and haunt anyone that crosses me over this issue. My best may well be absolutely nothing ..... but will they want to risk it? I could have a nasty sense of humour as a vengeful ghost!

I've made my views about this heard a few times when this has been brought up with friends and family.

Firstly, any organ which can be taken and used to improve the life of somebody else can be taken and given to somebody who needs it.

Secondly, anything left over can be taken by medical sciences to help understand or help fight against illnesses and dieases.

The rest can be buried and release back some of the carbon and other goodies to the ground.

As for the funeral - I don't want that to be the sombre boring occasion it usually is, but it should be a celebration of the good things in my life

    What about the environment?

Surely all the carbon based lifeform buring in the furnaces is going to increase CO2 levels?
