Personally when I see a Doctor I want them to be someone who trained to be a Doctor because they felt the urge to help other people. What I don't want is to see someone who became a Doctor because of the money they'd earn or the prestige of being a Doctor. Sadly I find the later case is all too common these days.

As said above most people dont join medicine to earn silly money, as only a few do, my dad knows a few surgeons who do earn alot of money.

I think for the time served if money is really the only thing your after its not a good move.. the 7 years you spend in uni, someone who started work at 18 would have eclipsed you, and it would probably take you untill 35 maybe more to catch up with him...

Now take someone who also started at the same time and was very very good at thier job, they will blow you out of the water and be earning mroe at 25 ( ur still in uni) than you ever will.

So tbh there are better ways of amassing lots of money.

As someone who has just graduated from medical school, I would have one piece of advice:

Don't do medicine unless you really want to do medicine.

Sounds really obvious, but seriously, there are far better paid careers, with better hours and no MMC nonsense. I am glad I did medicine, but if you're not interested in the subject and working in a hospital/GP surgery then it isn't for you. It really is a long hard slog and only worth it if it's what you really want to do...

    You are not wrong!

You youngsters have it easy, no 24 hour shifts etc, etc!
    Not around too often!

Yeah, I am. I guess I care about the wellbeing of other people too much. Any other advice from personal experience?

That's what I always wonder, I hate how the job has been degraded. If you didn't have cleaners, imagine what the world would be like. Yes, a dirty horrible place which no-one would want to live in. Personally I think cleaners should be more highly paid, and more respect given to them. The same goes for bus drivers.
