Re: Does political correctness make you angry?

I'm leaving and my mind was made up after about 8 years of Labour Government - the damage they've done is nigh on irreversible. I'll come back if/when it's fixed and sanity has resumed.

And trust me, that list you've written is high up on the list of everyone who is leaving.
The Mascot - not so high. But a prime example on why this once great, proud Country is now a joke.

Re: Does political correctness make you angry?

Cock ups are cock ups though... we're not debating that.

it's the "we're going to decide how you wipe your ass and be fined if you don't do it the right way" country that we seem to have got now.

I hold my tounge a lot of the time... but one that got me last year was a production of 3 little pigs that was changed to 3 little puppies because it might offend the muslim population of a school. Did anyone ask the muslims? no.

And why, after at least 150 years of "ethnic minorities" living in the UK (which I'm sure they knew was predominantly a white christian country before they moved here) is it all of a sudden in the last 5 years that people "have an issue" with christmas?

PC has gone mad in this country, to the point where it is unbearable.

So when the government wants to start taxing pub entertainment, which includes the weekly pub quiz do you think thats alright and perfectly justified? Do you think inheritance tax is fair and justified? Would you be happy paying it? Do you think the government needs around 65p for every £1 spent of fuel? People are going out of business because of it. Fact is we are taxed to holy hell in this country, thats why people complain about it. If we saw real meaningful progress perhaps people wouldn't complain so much. Thats another problem as a nation we don't complain enough about things, we just let them happen and make do.

usxhe190 - You can't seem to grasp the pattern of problems thats occurring in this country. High crime, high taxes, high living costs, fake PSB programs, muppet governments, crazy political correctness etc, etc are all contributors to people leaving the country. Don't you get it?

Re: Does political correctness make you angry?

I can think of 101 more insane 'PC-gone mad' stories than this one. So they're trying to make the mascot have broader appeal. It's what the mascot was brought out to do and now they're refining it so it appeals to a wider group of people.

You know what makes me sick? The media taking stories like this, which have absolutely no impact other than to stir up the 'Oh my God, it's soooo PC' brigade, and spinning them so people get all mardy.

Get some perspective. £15,000? What about the countless billions plowed into the NHS to little effect, the tens of billions given to Northern Rock with a high chance of defaulting, MPs personal expenses fiasco etc.etc. £15,000 isn't even loose change when you look at the major balls up this country has seen.

At least this one makes *some* sense.

    see, that's what i don't understand

    - you can bear things that affect you directly, paying high taxes, accepting high crime, muppet governments losing your data... but ... when some school (i assume you have nothing to do with this school) changes a production name from 3 little pigs to 3 little puppies because of some loonies (muslims or not), you need to pack your bags and leave...

I do - but i don't see people saying they want to leave the country about the government cockup in the 5 pages of that thread...for this tread, within 3 pages, already 5 people (including you) wants to get out of the country

Don't you get it? There seems to be something to do with PC that makes people so angry that the first thing in their minds is to leave the country - i am guessing something to do with subjecting to foreign and ethnic-minority loonies...to me this is as weird as the loonies complaining the mascot is too male and too white...!

    What reaction is that exactly?

There are many people who want to leave this country as they constantly see issues like this arise. By moving elsewhere they hope to avoid these issues. Where is the "shocking" "over reaction" there?

You would change your place of work if you didn't like it there any more, in this day and age, moving country isn't much different.

Political Correctness is a major player when it comes to diluting the British way of life, the country and what it means to be British. In that regard it probably hits peoples pride to be British and makes them feel more compelled to say *U to the government. Just because it hasn't be said in that other thread, doesn't mean that people don't think the same things. It's just another screwed up situation (that should NEVER have occurred) that adds to peoples want to leave the country.

People who fought and died for US particularly in the WW1/2 would probably turn in their graves if they knew how arse backward it was becoming.

that's the weird thing - are you less british? is your way of life less british? My Britishness is the same after 10/20/50 years of alleged "dilution" (sorry but i go for Liverpool )

As for the other thread, I am sure people would say they would leave the country in the government cockup thread if it was at the forefront of their minds...we are dealing with Hexites ere...

As for this comment, I guess you don't like a lot of people then (on the basis on their ancestors) ...if you turn the clock far back, I am sure lots of peoples in graves will be turning like a washer...

The fact that this is even an "issue" is an over-reaction imo... I just ignore (or laugh at) news like this... not sure why it is an "issue" for so many people

I can understand why people want to move because of taxes etc or if they don't agree with the policies here... Just out of interest where do those who want to leave plan to go?

When the government screws up our data, if affects everyone.

If people are offended by a police mascot being white and male, they need to be talked to and told to get a grip. Instead our weak society decides that its better to change things to suit this small group of people that you quite correctly called "loonies".

It's not that people are bothered that "loonies" are complaining about such stupid things, but the fact that organisations are willing to change things to suit these "loonies" as opposed to telling them where to go.

Who have we become when we are scared to tell these "loonies" that they are wrong, in fear of being labelled a racist?

Thats the point. The spending of 15K to suit "loonies" is a one of the "policies" you speak of.

Its a waste of money, that's the issue. Its just more of an issue when its spent to keep "loonies" happy, regardless of their ethnic group.

The point being, that these people most of the time aren't offended anyway and there is no standing issue, someone decides that they "might" be offended in the future without canvassing anyones opinion.

I just told some of my mates at work about this weird PC stuff (i.e. foreigner looking and people who can be regarded as ethnic minorities) - they think it is stupid and BBC must be having a slow day... (and also tell me not to waste time on Hexus - )

Anyways, for all we know, it might have been a white guy (e.g. our friend london major ken on his weird remarks) anyways...

BUT i am not going to leave my country because of some loonies (whether they are foreigner or not) - i don't see this weird PC stuff in my normal life as well only in the news

Yeap it's silly but nobody asked the muslims.

What scares me is it is middle-class, out of touch muppets who come up with these hair-brained excuses to why things need changing NOT the people who it's supposed to be insulting.
