    Anybody here wear contact lenses?

I just received my contact lenses I ordered in the post today.
I ordered green coloured monthly contact lenses, with power 0.00 as I do not wear glasses.
I plan to only wear these about twice a week though.
I was just wondering, can I leave the contact lenses in the same soltuion for a few days while not wearing them?
Or do I still have to replace the soltuion with new fresh soltuion every day even though I am not going to be wearing them on that day?
    Thanks

Yes, you can use the same soloution for a few days, but I wouldn't re-use it once you've taken them out and worn them again.

    Agreed

Solutions are fine for storage (if contact wearers can't wear their lenses for a while due to infection, then they'd be in the same position!)

Re: Anybody here wear contact lenses?

Thanks guys. I just got some advice from an optom aswell:

As an optom I advise my patients to change the solution once a week if they are not going to wear the lenses for a while. However the procedure is as follows:
Remove lenses, rub and rinse, store overnight in case
next morning change solution (you don't want lenses sitting in dirty solution for a week).
finally top up with fresh solution and then leave for a week.
change solution again in a week if stil not worn.

Make sure you clean them (few drops of solution on the lens in your palm and gently rub with finger (not nail) before putting them in thats what i got taught by optician

Re: Anybody here wear contact lenses?

Would it not be best to get your eyes checked out properly first? I know someone whos eyes are fine but he has a problem with a tear duct in his eye so he cant wear contact lenses. There are many different solutions available do you know if you are going to be allergic to any of them? Each solution has a different time when thats its safe to leave lenses in. The stuff i use is OK for 5 days, I used to use some that was ok for 7.

    Permanently confused

Its best you do, also after 7-14 days wear you should go back, they put a yellow dye in your eye to check for protein build up and scratches to your lens.

CAREFUL! If the solution is peroxide based then don't do this. Does the lenses/solution not have instructions? I have a peroxide based cleaner and a barrel with a reactive disk in the bottom to clean my lenses. They're 30 day disposables and must be left for 6 hours to clean so all the peroxide is all used up. I change the solution every 4 days if I'm not wearing them for a while.

Better safe than sorry with your eyes, good call on the opticians.
