    Sofa repair sevice?

Right, so it's come to our attention that our sofa is damaged and we need to get it fixed or buy a new sofa as we're living in a rented property. The plywood inside the armrest of our sofa has snapped, probably due to someone jumping on it or sitting on it although we have no idea when anyone did this. The sofa itself isn't particularly expensive (£250ish) but we'd rather pay for it to get fixed as opposed to getting a new one if it works out cheaper. anyone have any reccommendations?

    cheers,

    Richie

    Re: Sofa repair sevice?

at a place i used to rent, i had this awful cheap, insainly low grade sofa, i think it came from ikea.

I had a friend who wieghs no more than 7 stone (seriously, she is like 5foot) jump on the same side i was sitting on, it went crunch.

Now, this was a frame which had beome detached, i just botched it back together with some nails + glue, then put a triangular support accross (which it should of had from the start.

Thing is, i doubt you'll get someone to fix it properly if its a really low grade sofa, only hope is botching it. Your local paper might have an Odd JObs man.

We might be able to help. Give Sherry a ring on 01706 874580 and tell her Sam recommended she give you details of a repair guy. If not repairable you can look at english-sofas.co.ukor premiumsofas.co.uk for some bargain stuff.

    Re: Sofa repair sevice?

I would suggest opening up if you can and fixing it yourself.

Family bought a £3000 sofa set, "Italian Leather" made by hand, well 6 months ago it broke, so we flipped it up and opened it up, what we saw was uneblievable, the crappest MDF I have ever seen, actually it was that chip stuff, load of crap. Anyway we fixed it with some wood, so is all solid now, but that's not the point, when you spend that much on a sofa from a decent store, you expect a decent inside, proper wood, and it wouldn't cost much more.

So from now on, whenever we buy a decent sofa, we'll ask if we can see the inside before purchase.

    Re: Sofa repair sevice?

A good sofa should have all the load bearing areas made from hardwood. There will though always be some MDF as there are parts which are too complicated to construct from ordinary hardwoods.
But for a sofa to break after 6 months normal use is unacceptable and I would definitely complain to the manufacturer.

Well, I have been considering enlarging my manhood, but I can't find a reputable supplier who can ship direct from China and supply me with prices in USD. Does anybody have any suggestions?
