my little cousin talks to me on msn using "txt tlk" it pees me off, oh and she has excessive "!!!!!!!!!!!!!"s or "??????????"s after every sentence. I just tend to ignore her
I must admit that i quite often use abreviations, such as tbh, lol etc. but i text, type and talk all in the same manner. I try to always be polite and speak, text, type in proper English.
edit: just because i try doesnt say that i am always right, the only problem is that when i talk i cant go back and edit like this .
alright, this seems like a good thread to ask something in....
maybe I is ignorant, thought I knew most abreviations, but what does 'iirc' stand for?
I know, I know.....
As for spelling mistakes, if I make one, it's often a difficult choice between leaving it as it is or editing it and getting the dreaded 'edited by' text at the bottom of the post
iirc - if I remember correctly
tbh - to be honest
But your name is in this so called "l337 speak"... Cr4iG... since when is a 4 an A ?
Maybe you should get some kip and re-read ya post
I understand what you mean, it seems to be coming continuously from the same people... does get on my nerves a bit. Although, I do tend to type how I speak
I always use acronyms like tbh, brb, lol, etc. But the rest of the time I don't shorten my words.

I think it helps in the long run. One thing that annoys me is people who don't know how to use their theirs, they're and there. It's really quite simple.
Or people that call their RAM 'twinmoss'. That quite literally makes me laugh. Learn to use your capital letters. Acronyms _should_ be in uppercase. All acronyms i use in computer terms are always in upper case. For example 'mhz' should be 'MHz'.
Yep. It's surprising how many people make simple English mistakes.
One thing that hacks me off the most is people who put damn inverted comma's after words like that!! "My PC's are all running Windows", for example. Or "I have twin monitor's". ARGH!!
Someone on my MSN list who abbreviates every word, and that's no exageration. Lol.[21:55:40] Howard [kthx: can i just ask
[21:55:51] Howard [kthx: why do you abbreviate your words to the point
where it's very difficult to read
[21:56:12] mi dj cum to: corse its da way i say em
[21:56:26] Howard [kthx: so saying "lyk" is different from "like"?

Seriously though, a while back, I had a brief word with David about this, and even wrote a quick guide on how to post properly, and not end up looking like a 'l33t dude'; nothing came of it though.

I must admit that if you look at a lot of my posts on the forum, I am guilty of spelling mistakes and you'll see the last edited underneath a lot of them and again most of the reasons I give are doody speeling. But I'd rather admit to spelling things incorrectly and actually corrected them rather than post something where people struggle to understand what I have typed.
Another annoyance of mine is the whole dyslexia thing. I know a lot of genuine dyslexics, hey 5 of my cousins are (seems to be a defective gene or something on my dad's side of the family that out of all my uncle/aunt's/parent's children all of them have dyslexia apart from my sister and i) and what you will find with genuine dyslexics are that they try extremely hard to spell correctly and form coherent sentences, often typing things up in word to make use of the spell/grammar checker before pasting it onto something such as a forum. This I applaud, what does annoy me are the people who are either too lazy to spell properly or didnt actually take time out of their busy schedule as children to learn how to speak, read and write properly who use the world dyslexia as an excuse for spelling badly.
