Re: Is Life Too Short? Or is it a drag?

I find every day a drag myself, although that's probably more to do with the fact that I hate routine, and always want to be doing something new.

Having said that, when I'm enjoying myseflf, the time goes incredibly fast and I've had whole weeks just disappear.

Statistically you should live till your about 80. 45 years ago it was 1963. Think how much has changed since then. Think of what has been invented that could only have been dreamt about. By the year 2053 there may well be stuff that extends your life for another 40 years but makes you feel a sprightly 50. Then again you could get hit by a bus tomorrow.

I find things a drag too but what can I do about it? I expect most of the western world over 30 feel like that too. Anyway it's the weekend now, I'm off to see my brother and my 11 month old niece so it's not all bad.

If things aren't going well for me, I don't think about how long I'm going to have to endure it, I think about how short a time I have to turn things around and then start enjoying the good times.

I am almost constantly focussed on trying to make things better so that when I'm older, it will be almost constant happy fun time.

Re: Is Life Too Short? Or is it a drag?

does tend to depend pretty much on what you're doing.. can sit & lose hours on the net, for example, whereas 10 mins in the dr's surgery is a different matter. & it is true, Blitzen, the crap parts of life are usually the ones chucked at you from outside your control, and usually at the worst timing.

stating the obvious, the fact that time speeds up as you get older is a really dirty trick (length of school holidays, time between birthdays when you're a child, blah blah..). Once heard someone say (famous i think but can't remember who) -'when you're old, breakfast seems to come round about every 15 minutes...' which is beginning to seem not far wrong in terms of what you can get done in a day...

speaking personally i would rather opt for fewer good years than hang on til old age as nothing compares to your young years, quality over quantity for me. will let you know if i think different if i do get to 94 (perish the thought) - but if the example of my parents & grandparents is anything to go by, i think i'd probably decline.

summary - life too short for sure, but especially, not enough of it is the good stuff. 50 more years of crap or 50 good'uns aren't really comparable.

i hope you find that it will be, but as life can pull nasty tricks despite forward planning, so enjoy yourself now as much as possible...

Live life on the edge. It won't seem long and it won't seem short and it'll feel just a little bit scary. It's the only way

Re: Is Life Too Short? Or is it a drag?

I find that pretty much all the problems and crap that put me on a downer are normally down to people.
I take a lot of crap. mainly from the people I work with.
Whether I'm having a good day or a bad day my outlook is always the same.

My life is way too short, and the lives of all these A**holes are way too long.
