Reached its target but but it can't hurt to donate more to a sensible cause like this - C'mon Hexites!

Not a bad idea. I can't think of a time I've ever seen any atheist advertising. Worth a tenner. Hopefully they can do another campaign with the slogan "There's probably no Leprechauns. Stop worrying and enjoy your life."
From the beeb link. The irony it burns, it burns I tell ya!
But Stephen Green of pressure group Christian Voice said: "Bendy-buses, like atheism, are a danger to the public at large.
"I should be surprised if a quasi-religious advertising campaign like this did not attract graffiti.
"People don't like being preached at. Sometimes it does them good, but they still don't like it."
"Reality is what it is, not what you want it to be." Frank Zappa. ----------- "The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike." Huang Po.----------- "A drowsy line of wasted time bathes my open mind", - Ride.
Wow!

I hope that some of the regular contributors to the many religion threads on here will be putting their money where their mouths (or fingers) are.
As a Christian I think it's a wonderful example of religous free speech in this country. I certainly don't begrudge it and I hope it'll relax the viewpoint of some towards putting Christian or other faith messages on adverts.

I may be £10 poorer now, but my soul is infinitely more enriched.

kalniel is right it's a fine example that there's a sensible debate going on here.
...which is why I wonder whether it it is really a good idea, it plays into the hands of those who already whine that "atheism is a religion too" while trying to undermine our secular laws and traditions.
on the whole though why not? it's a cheery inoffensive message that has the unrivalled benefit of being true, unlike the fundamentalists' ads for their alpha 'courses' in dreary medievalism, that I already have to look at. it's nice not be sold anything, especially religious indoctrination, so I'll be contributing.

I was going to ask if they'd give confirmation as to whether they'll be spreading their word a bit wider than London? Might affect the amount I give if it does
The BHA is also considering extending the campaign to cities including Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Well, I don't have a soul to feel more enriched so I won't be contributing because I am cheap.
HEXUS FOLDING TEAM It's EASY
It's up to £32,000 and rising.
Very interesting to see the two strikingly different viewpoints from religious groups.
I would certainly expect these signs to be a target for graffiti. I know that many people in the US with the darwin ichthys on their cars have had them keyed, to the point where it's not worth the risk.
It's sad really, that atheistic advertising should be such a target for vandals.
Any religion I know of would say they preach "peace".
Only if it's their kind of "peace" though. Strange isn't it?
I appreciate it's going to be a minority, but it just shows how shockingly dumb some people can be and does nothing more than back up the brainwashed theory for Atheists.
It's a waste of money tbh.
I'm of the belief that no religion (or non-religion in this case) should "preach" in the form of advertising. I don't like it when I see posters advertising religion (not because it offends me, but because I don't like being preached to), so I don't think that atheism should copy what the religions are doing just because they're getting away with it. It's hypocrisy really. How many people would prefer religions not to advertise, yet still put money towards this?
I'd much rather have a good debate with people about why they believe what they believe rather than seeing the word "god" everywhere - even if it is promoting something I choose to believe in.
Waste of money, and the people who donated know it.
It's not a waste of money if it keeps even one unhappy and vulnerable person from falling victim to the snake-oil of money-grabbing tambourine-thumping evangelicals .
