    Re: Buying a Vacume cleaner

The hetty is the pink one and can suck harder than the henry

I'll leave your filthy minds to read into that what you will.

After talking about this with the other half she flatly refuses to consider one with a bag and is set on a dyson.
I've tried to get her to consider non-dyson bagless vacuum cleaners, but I just got that "if you get something other than a dyson I'll just moan about it and never like it no matter what it's like." look.

So for £150 it looks like we'll be getting a DC19 and I'll not be able to divert the change into a new monitor

    Re: Buying a Vacume cleaner

I'd have some flavour of Numatic if I was paying out for a vacuum cleaner- but the wife came home from work with one of the original Dysons about 4 years ago, and after I cleaned all the chewing gum/carpet gak mix out of it it's worked fine ever since.

Well, I say fine- the brush drum was broken and the drive belt was knackered. I glued the drum together and fitted a new belt, but the drum was massively unbalanced and made a noise like a leaf blower until it broke again a year later. But since that coincided with us moving to a house with laminate flooring, and since there's never more than a foot or two of clear floor in any of our rooms, I just use the hose and small brush now for poking into the few gaps that exist between all the crap that clogs our house up.

    Re: Buying a Vacume cleaner

Well the deed has been done and a Dyson DC19 PRECISION has been ordered, why the precision version? ummm well I had a look around and couldn't find any info on the different types (don't you just hate the way manufactors never list all there models on there websites )
But more importantly it was the same price and Black!

Ordered from discountelectricals.com which was the cheapest listing on the Which? website

As i said above, don't forget to service it, change the filters at the very least as the guide tells you.

With no bag cost, its not that expensive thing to do.

    Re: Buying a Vacume cleaner

    Another vote for Henry.

We've had two in our office for 7 years + and they still suck. Builder's rubble, dust, general office cleaning, carpet, tiles, lino and one incident in the car park (don't ask). Not one issue yet.

We've had one at home for coming up a year and again, no issues so far.

    Re: Buying a Vacume cleaner

Will do it's a bit like the way I've started to do maintenance cycles on the new washing machine.
Once you have to shell out for something like this after the old one broke you suddenly take more intrest in keeping it maintenaned.

Although in my defense the old dyson was my girl friends not mine.

EDIT: I did sort of sugest the Henry, her reply would never get by the word filter and the evil look she gave me made me fear for my dangly bits

Had this almost 3 years and its been a really good one for the money. It's got quirks like every other, but nothing that really miffed me and I would buy another.

When I empty it, there's always several socks in it

    Re: Buying a Vacume cleaner

That's because the air cyclone inside is in tune with your washing machine spin cycle, thus forming a worm hole between the two that pulls the socks through.

    that or you've got a vaccum foot fetish . . .

Same here, speaking as a Henry owner. They are bullet proof, built like trains, have very good suction. I know that changing the bag is a bit of a ball ache, but it's 9 litre capacity means you won't need to change it for months.

No filters other than the one that sit just under the motor to bother with, 2 year warranty. If your Mrs. does'nt want a red Henry, she can have a pink Hetty instead.

Or to put it in short, Henry 4tw
