yes in worried
no, not worried
don't really care
im worried and have allready googled tamiflu to find a supplier
bring it on !!!
The source of the outbreak:-
You've killed us all.
Seems the daily mail have found a hugely pessimistic expert, and over 40% of us are going to get this.
Though the most worrying fact is that two people from outside of mexico may have died from swine flu. That for me is a big turning point, I wasn't going to worry till then.
We're ALL GOING TO DIE
well it was gonna happen, the only thing that differentiates Mexico from the other countries is time. sure the richer countries will come out better with most likely smaller death toll, but time is what separates the countries. We are lucky in this country that we know whats coming and we are quite well prepared but i strongly feel some people will die from this pandemic (and it is a pandemic) in the UK. We are about 3/4 weeks behind Mexico from what i can gather.
i know this might sound very pessimistic, but its just inevitable IMHO.
EDIT: i see the 2 deaths are in California, not exactly a poor state

and China and south Korea have confirmed cases, only one continent thats not got any confirmed cases (Africa) expect WHO to up the level to 5 anytime soon. This is now a Pandemic 99% sure.
use the map that Mblaster posted, and click to page 2 of the list, the 2 deaths are in LA...
dunno where the guy who did the map got his info from though
edit: ohh found it (not confirmed swine flu) but highly likely

It will be standard flu symptoms- fever, malaise, muscle ache, coughing, fatigue, headache, vomiting, diarrhoea, etc. The latter two seemingly more common in swine flu.

i bet u lot are now worried. its in the UK
And thats where i go to travel to work! i read the earlier posts in this thread and people where laughing and taking a p. i bet their not laughing anymore
Ok lets get a sense of proportion here, from WHO on Mexico:
Nasty as it is, even in Mexico swine flu still has a long way to go before it catches up with something as mundane as travelling on a road. Yet I don't see people suddenly panicing and avoiding road transport, let alone stopping and thinking about taking special precautions etc. And there are still 6 other more likely causes of death in Mexico than road traffic accidents. In 2005, almost 17,000 official deaths due to road traffic injuries were recorded, more than 700,000 victims were hospitalized and more than 15 million people required medical attention for their injuries.
thats not a fair comparison though. people die due to many different ways from road accidents to murders.
There is no cure/prevention for road traffic "accidents". note the word accidents. A virus such as this is very difficult to prevent from spreading. i guess if its a deadly virus that kills in an instance you will probably still laugh and not take it seriously
Will you still be laughing if your children or loved ones catch this flu. doubt it
I'm using the tube tomorrow - going to be constantly using my carerex instant antibacterial hand gel no matter how fruity I look.
What is the point in worrying at that stage? What would you think we should have done apart from sitting in the rosey glow of our monitors? Is there any Vaxine we can run out and buy? We have had the same threat with bird flu.
Still, I'm not really worried. I guess I'm the kind of person who takes it as it comes. Wether I worry or not it will not change a thing. If this breaks out in a big way and I'm going to catch it there is not a lot I can do about it. If the NHS offer flu jabs to the public I'll take it. But a lot of people I dislike are going to catch this
I look on this post and see the funny pictures you guys on Hexus post. I'm still laughing.
