On a related note, a newspaper fell into my printer and jammed it recently, and as a results it got some ink on the bit below where the paper passes through, and it doesn't seemt to dry; I now get a big black smudged line on the back of any documents I print. Is there any way to fix this?

I heard that ant pee works! You need to collect a bucket full first though!!
After having a similar issue a few weeks back the best method I found was to use diluted bleach to get rid of the ink from your hands etc.
Seemed to work well for me however I did have a full continous ink system fail and leak all over me, luckily none went on the carpet however.
I once placed the CISS in a wrong position (too high) and it kept leaking on the paper :S
I just let the printer dry and it seems to work fine.

hey up.. ANOTHER printer engineer.. 'cept I work mainly on colour copiers.. anyhoo - ink - lifts straight out with anti-static foam cleaner. Spray on, let it do it's "thing" and then swab off. Works a treat

there's a product out there called "Manista" it's actually better than swarfega, and doesn't turn your hands into leather gloves
