Travel or Buy

Hello Guys,

This is my 1st post so be gentle with me. I have a question for you.

What would spend your hard earned cash on? You can't do both because money is tight.

1, Travel to see your daughter's in London / Edinburgh, I have one in each. Oh we live in Leeds, This equates to about 10 times a year.

2, Or buying some components and building a new system worth about £1000, which I have being wanting to do for a while now.

I'm going through a selfish phase, just so you have an idea which one I'm leaning towards. But then I really miss my girls who are 24yrs and 21yrs,

My youngest has just started her 1st Teaching position. My eldest has being in Edinburgh since finishing Uni.

What a dilemma, kids who'd have them.

I shall go with the majority of votes. (joke)

Indeed they can and will, but my wife is so upset it's almost akin to loosing a loved one. This has a lot to do with her child-hood yrs which i won't go into/bore you with.

Your current system is already pretty good (better then most), so if there is any particular need that your computer is not fulling maybe it would be prudent just to upgrade a particular component? Maybe a new gfx card?

Family takes priority, but consider if, well, to put it bluntly, you are missed that much at this time. If your daughters are particularly busy with their own lives, it can be mutually beneficial for each of you to get what you really want. Just be sure you won't regret it later on.

Family wins for me, but perhaps there is a clever way where you get to see lots of them and have a system. Perhaps second hand parts etc. and arranging a cheap holiday all together for a week (camping?).

Your PC isnt that bad a spec anyway and on top of that, you will build a new PC and then something new will come out, might as well wait to be honest.

I assume that you kids have computers too. if you buy them webcams you and your wife can talk to them face to face every night

Do your kids want to entertain you 10 times a year.. We (My brother and I, similar ages and professions as it happens lol) go back when we feel like it.. parents being parents usually fill the cars up with petrol..

Family first and all that.. and if they want you to go then do it but if they don't then whats the point.

Saying that I can't see anything worth upgrading on your pc unless it's your monitor (and then graphics).

Spend £500 on a PC, spend the other half sending your wife away on a regular basis. Then you can actually *use* the PC once it's built
