Totally agree. Too many people falling foul of the marketing BS.

As a *total* aside, is anyone interested in these awesome speaker cables I've just developed? They totally revolutionise the sound that you'll get out of any hi-fi system. They use 100% oxygen-free directional super-copper, with a special non-conductive external layer guaranteed to minimise the leakage of phonic-current to anywhere other than the cable's destination. Special discount rate of £50 per metre to you Hexus folks.

scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

One of the statements on the questionnaire at politicalcompass.org is something like "It is a sad comment on society that such a basic commodity as water is branded and sold" - you might as well sell air in sealed plastic bags, on the basis that the air in London (or wherever) is a bit whiffy on occasion. It's simply ridiculous to incur the energy cost of carting around plastic bottles of water when perfectly good drinking water is available out of the taps everywhere in the country.
I'm surprised at the amount of poeple that buy bottled water for the home, not at the number of people that drink bottled water in general. I often buy a bottle of water when I'm in town or generally out and about, because I'm thursty and I don't like bottles of juice that much. Too fizzy and too sugary. So water it is.

I also try to keep a couple of sealed bottles in the car in case of emergencies. Although there isn't any at the moment.

Tap water does me fine. Generally any water but Evian as it does have a weird taste to it.

Not something I would worry about. You should be more worried about the Victorian water distribution system. The water quality in the north west of Glasgow has increased noticably in the past couple of years simply because they have been replacing all the old cast iron and cast porceline water popes with nice clean polyurothane. No more dirt, discolouration or funny smells from the hundred year old pipework.

If you don't mind me asking, where do you live? There isn't generally a difference between tap and bottled, but if you live somewhere where there are things like iron deposits it can taste a bit odd. I remember the Lake District having funny tasting water!

Try chilling it, you won't notice the difference.

Re: What brand of water do you like!

I don't see the point in going to the supermarket and paying £1.30 for a litre of stuff that probably came out of a tap in the first place...

Petrol is cheaper, i'd rather pay the quid for a litre of that to drink than over the odds for stuff that falls from the sky practically everyday.

But hey, it's just the same with alcohol, for some tesco special will do, for others it's the finest 1787 chateau margaux...

Just in case you missed it the first time.............

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...aste-test.html

It's bad enough that restaurants get away with charging largely ignorant consumers scandalous mark-ups on wine, but charging £5, £10 and £20 for a resource which is freely available is an outrage - particularly when even the most well-trained palates couldn't tell these supposedly superior products apart from plain tap water when tasting a range of waters blind
