One event doesn't define an individual or a group of individuals. Have you always acted entirely sensibly? You've never done something stupid and regretted it afterwards? Sadly stupidity got them killed.

The Gordon brown incident was blown entirely out of proportion but here's a thought, have an assistant check your letters before they're sent out? What got in the way, pride?
