    Play.com returns

I had to send back a HDD which was DOA and followed their return instructions exactly.
I sent it before new year and according to royal mail it was delivered just on the 30th of dec.

I haven't had any contact from play at all and when i log on all it says is return initiated. Has
anyone else had to return something to play? if so can you give me some idea of what should happen.
Does the return initiated thing ever change do they contact me before sending the replacement?

Also is there anyway of contacting them via an enote or email rather than calling them?

    Cheers

Not including New Years Day for obvious reasons, its only been 4 working days in total since you returned the HDD, how about giving them a chance?

Most companies have a back catalogue of returns at this time of the year, i'm sure they will get round to you eventually.

    x2

Returns departments are mown out post-Christmas for many obvious reasons, give it up to the 10 working day point and if you've not heard anything, give them a gentle nudge, retain your POD as you may need it if the return's been misplaced.

    Cheers Mattitude.

    ------------------

I would have expected the status to at least have been updated to received or something
    like that.

This is why I hoped someone who had experience with play.com returns would be able to tell me.

    Re: Play.com returns

I had to return a bench tshirt back to them because it was way to small (it was a fitted design which they failed to say!), returned no problem and i believe i got a refund within 5days so yeh very quick. I suspect its just cause of the Christmas period, many people return presents you know .

As said, give them another like 5 days and if nothing then email them, should be fine though. Make sure you get your postage refunded because it wasnt your fault!.

Combo of xmass period and the snow muching stuff up, probably, must say I'm still waiting on my ddr3 from play.com, although that was not sent back, the original never turned up so I they should be sending a replacement set, but only one stick has turned up so far.

    Re: Play.com returns

Just a bit of positive, and not a return sorry, but I ordered a DVD a few days ago and it arrived blindly quickly - far quicker than my Amazon orders which I'm still waiting for.

    Re: Play.com returns

So I log on today and look at the order to see the returns initiated bit gone.
However it doesn't mention anything about it at all and no email either. I feel like
something has gone wrong because I cant believe their system would work in this
    way.

    Re: Play.com returns

Play are pretty good, I had an item lost over xmas and they sent a replacement. The only frustrating part is that you have to wait 30 or so days before you can claim against it

    Re: Play.com returns

I just got an email back from them stating they never received it even though royal mail
say they delivered it. Problem is (or at least I think its going to be) its says
Sorry, an electronic proof of delivery is not available for this item. I do not know if this
is common or something is up.

My one and only parcel that dissapeared while on its way was Mafia (epic pc game) on the day it was released. As you say it was a pain in the bum having to wait two weeks before they posted a replacement.

Usually what happens in the OP's circumstance is the parcel although signed for may not have been logged back onto the system. So it maybe sat in a huge pile of sent back items waiting to be checked in.

Usually if it goes longer than a few days ring/email them back with a the tracking number to show you have sent it and not pulling a fast'un. Then someone will sort it out. (Speaking from past experience sending many a mobile phone back and being a bit over eager finding where in the system it is)

    Re: Play.com returns

I recently had a similar experience with Play.

I ordered a CD and they sent me an empty CD case. I phoned their help desk who told me to post it back which I did. When I had heard nothing after a couple of weeks, I phoned again and the girl on the help desk said they hadn't had it back yet, and I should have used recorded delivery. I was quite pissed off (it was only a £3.00).

Since she couldn't do anything about it I emailed customercare@play.com complaining about what had happened. Within 24 hours they emailed me back apologising for the inconvenience, sending a replacement CD and reimbursing my delivery costs!

So my advice would be email rather than ring.

    Re: Play.com returns

My only bad experiences were two items I ordered that never arrived.

On each occasion I phoned them and as mentioned above had to wait for a certain period of time (2 weeks mentioned above, I'm sure it was longer than that but I can't remember) and then replacements were posted to me with no problem.

I also had the option of a refund on each occasion.

    Re: Play.com returns

Well I sent them the tracking number and I got an email saying they are going to dispatch a
replacement. I guess they never found it and because it said delivered they sent another
    anyway.

The problem came about in the first place because they didnt pack the laptop HDD at all
well. It was an oem one in just an A4 padded envelope, no wonder it didnt survive.
I just hope this time they did as I asked and wrapped it properly. I have a bad feeling it wont
be though. I don't think I will order fragile things like that from them again.
