    I love it!

And yes, I'm a very tidy person. I have all the boxes for every PC component that I own and all the invoices for everything I buy. I always keep the bubble wrap and cable ties and everything that comes with something in the box it came in. And it's all organised really neatly under my bed

Re: Are you a tidy person ?

Yes and no; I'm not tidy at all in whatever room or space I'm in, hence this face at the sight of an unexpected visitor wanting to come in. If I have done a major tidy (probably only because I am expecting people) then I can't understand how bad it gets again so quickly. It's clean mess though, paper goods &c rather than rat-attracting old plates & foodstuffs - just 'stuff' that I've got out and not put away - partly lack of storage.

Cupboards & drawers etc do have to be tidy, couldn't stand to stuff things away any old how. If I re-organise a storage space and then feel the items are not 'happy' with their new arrangement they have to be put back as they were... At least then you can leave an item in the same place for years & still find it, unlike if you move it somewhere 'new & better' only to never see it again.

Re: Are you a tidy person ?

    Fairly tidy.

I like my place to be organised and tidy, but if I'm home and then away on short notice regularly then things tend to get messed up. When that happens I end up blitzing the place and sorting stuff out.

The only exception is my computer desk, it can get pretty messy, but it tidy at the moment and I intend keeping it that way.

In some ways, I am. For instance, I have databases (Collectorz series) for CDs, movies and especially for books. In large part, it's because if I didn't, I'd never find anything, due to volumes. The same applies to research materials, like cuttings, articles etc, though the database is my own design, because I've got customer contacts, PR companies, articles commissioned and dates sent and paid, and so forth all linked together. It also applies to hard disc contents, largely again because of volumes. For instances, I've got political manifestos going back years, I've got budgets for many years, numerous acts of Parliament, white and green papers, studies and reports from think tanks and commissions of various types, and so on. If it wasn't organised, again, I'd never find anything.

On the other hand, I could organise an explosion in a paper factory and the wife would think I'd tidied up. She might even be right.

For instance, I've been hunting for the cheque book for a particular account for about two months, and the wife found it behind a chair in the lounge. I still don't know how the hell it ended up there. It also took me an hour and a half the other day to find my watch .... which turned out to be in a pocket of a fleece I'd put away .... in the airing cupboard.

I said to the wife, rather facetiously and some years ago, that maybe we ought to sell the house and live in a warehouse. From the calculating look (*) in her eyes, I think she was actually evaluating the feasibility of the idea. I'm more careful what I joke about these days.

(*) Or she might have been contemplating some impromptu rearrangement of my personal plumbing. The look had a slightly feral aspect to it.

PS. If you ever visit me and the place looks tidy, be very careful what cupboard doors you open. The danger of avalanche will be severe.

Re: Are you a tidy person ?

I think I'm naturally tidy... I hate junk being on the floor, on surfaces, so on so forth.

But then I do get horrendously lazy, so I tend to just deal with it for a while and then have a blitz. It's mainly because everything has to go in my room, so I can't have letters in the hallway and then put them in a cupboard, they have to go on top of the chest of drawers and then into the filing tin. As do plates. As do glasses. As do random computer components. So people would probably regard me as untidy, but it's not really true

Re: Are you a tidy person ?

    Yes and No.

Somedays I can be what I class as normal and not bother about where things are and a bit of mess.

But then there are my special days where I can be in the 'mood' and be running round cleaning the entire place from top to bottom at 6 am so people are greeted by the lovely smell of bleach and cleaning chemicals when they wake up.

I've been known to clean around 2am if I can't sleep and have nothing to watch on DVD/TV

Re: Are you a tidy person ?

I'm a terrible, incoherent mix because I hate muddle and mess but everywhere I go it somehow seems to follow me. A bit like Mickey Mouse in Fantasia except with me it's not walking brooms it's a whirling storm of mess and gubbins that gets strewn everywhere.

So, I'd like to be tidy and organised but for reasons I've never really understood, this never seems to happen and stuff just snowdrifts around me. I hate it and have to have mega tidy-up sessions every few days. Bah.

Re: Are you a tidy person ?

My lounge and kitchen stay fairly tidy. Study and bedroom you shouldn't ask about.

I'm slowly getting properly organised (which is obviously a lot harder than just being tidy). It wouldn't take very long to make the room look tidy, but properly organising is another matter.

I'm not looking forward to the horror that is reorganising the cables under my desk again. There's quite a lot of computers on it.

I still haven't tidied the room that *meant* to be my office since we moved into this house - which was May last year! I am probably the least tidy person I know. Part of it is that I just don't see the mess, the other part is the fact that I am terminally lazy (seriously, if I had to make the effort to breathe I probably wouldn't be alive now ). That said, when the mood does take me I'll tidy until the place is spotless and well organised. I have photos of my desk to prove this, which I will eventually post somewhere appropriate

I'm exactly the same (as anyone who has looked at one of my for sale threads will know ) - and I've only got worse since I discovered that I can buy job lots of old components cheap on ebay! I now have a couple of boxes of old motherboards that I bought in case they were bargains (they weren't, most of them are dead ), but it'll take me forever to get rid of them *despite* the fact that I know they're worthless junk...

Re: Are you a tidy person ?

I am always reminded of the expression "A tidy desk is the sign of a sick mind.*", What i have been trying to do over time is categorize my junk, there is no point in having something if when you need it you can't find it, so over the past few years I have been sorting my stuff into stackable plastic storage boxes. Something that is starting to pay off. I normally have few unsorted boxes which every once is a while I try to look through and sort.

    Tidy? Yes.. hellishly so.

Having a little boy is a serious stain on my nerves on this subject.... but I'm getting better at not fretting quite so much.... a bit.

    Tidy.... always.

I am exactly this. Organised chaos approach.

Also, if I'm going to tidy - it needs to be done properly not just a quick one. This involves a good sort out and throw away too.
