I'll never forget sawing an in tact female 'pelvis' - plus the usual soft tissues etc - in half with a wood saw. Dissection is more character building than educational!
I'm always surprised how many medics there are on Hexus. I'll be joining your ranks this October.
At least I hope you guys are medics...
It's not the butchers you want to worry about it's the gasman. They know lots of maths and physics but not a single one of them can tell you how anasthesia works. If you can prise them away from the crossword!
Not around too often!

Glad to hear it went well (hope you enjoyed this cheery post-op read of pain, dissection and dodgy anaesthesia.... note to self, never post on here if about to go into operating theatre.)
Right, copying this from FB as can't be bothered to type it all again... tired...
I had acute appendicitis. Went to work Tuesday morning with what I thought was a bit of an upset stomach and ended up in A&E a few hours later only to have doctors and nurses run around me plugging me in to all sorts of machines and giving me drip after drip... turned out they weren't able to operate Tuesday night due to lack of anaesthetists and the 4 hour delay getting me through A&E so operated yesterday at about 10am. I woke up about 2pm or so, it took them so long as they weren't able to do it through keyhole surgery and had to do an open appendicectomy. Off work for 2 weeks now, and just started a new job!
And thanks to all for the kind comments and weird scary stories that really helped as I lied there in the hospital bed... And no cute nurses at all, was quite disappointed!
Glad they've whipped that grumbling appendix out of you mate, just relax now till you feel better. Nows the time to watch all those DVD box sets you haven't got round to watching yet
I'm no stranger to the operating table, had that many ops when I was a kid I used to fight the anesthetic.
Cute nurses are the forefront of advanced medical care. It is scientifically proven that men are much more responsive to treatment when administered by a cute nurse, which in turn results in improved recovery times and therefore less strain on NHS resources.
I'll have you know I'm a cute nurse.
Oh wait no, thats an acute nurse. Curses.
