Yep, the updates were installed on the 10-6-10 along with the rest of the updates from tuesday (after i woke it from it's slumber )
There's nothing wrong with Bing per say, it just doesn't do what i want from firefox. Thusly making it redundant at it's task at hand.
In other words if i type "facebook" in the address bar, i want it to automatically take me to facebook... AKA "i'm feeling lucky"
Whereas with Bing, it was taking me to the search result for Facebook on Bing, which is not what i want, even though a dual word search, functioned correctly, i.e. "face book" went straight to the page.
Plus the fact that Google just feels less cluttered (less so after their recent update)
I've got no problem with MS updating their platform, that should be encouraged, however, being incredibly wary of installing anything means that i know i have never installed any toolbars, let alone still have them...
MS should keep their nebs out of things that aren't theirs, it's just common decency, it's no different from me going into work tomorrow and taking a dump in someone's sandwich...
Ah, i see. I don't think i have used the feeling lucky feature before, but i can see your point.
As for your analogy at the end, Sigged!
You know what's really humorous....
MS have fixed the issue nice and quickly so that it no longer occurs....
Oh wait no they ****ing haven't, same update, auto-installed today (14/06/10), and guess what?
Same ****ing thing has happened!
Way to go ****wits!
Remove the update, AGAIN, and what do you know? Problem solved... AGAIN!
Thing is... Why is a cumulative security update for IE8 messing around with other programs
MS do those types of things, the funny thin since ive been using windows OS, everytime they bring outa new one the old OS seems to slow down.

Had I look for it and found the same update that caused this 'bing search' page to appear instead of google. But I have had no affect from it.................my homepage still direct to google. Does this update only affect some people then?
Hmmm, interesting...
The problem has returned, however the update isn't being shown in "Programs and features" now.....
Right this is doing my nut in now, so i've enacted a work around...
Redirector: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5064/
Example URL: http://www.bing.com/search?q="TEST"&form=MSSRPD
Include Pattern: http://www.bing.com/search?q=*&form=MSSRPD
Redirect to: http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=$1
Wildcard
Microsoft can now prat about to their hearts content...
bing is like using a bloated 90s "search portal".
