Par for the course. It's one of the reasons why such a large portion of the world think America is a joke.

off topic... but i would prefer the Americans to run the show than the Iranians, Saudis or the Chinese.. count yourself lucky that a liberal country is at the top, because the world would be very much darker if they weren't.

and out of interest, which country do you think would do a better job?

    Re: Darwin disproved

I try to avoid things like this because stupidity of the common world really winds me up and there's nothing I can do about it.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not talking about what he believes in, but it's his severe misconception of the way evolution works. Things change over millions and millions of years, just like how the mountains were made - its an impossible gradient of time to truly get our head around, since even all the way back to the era of Jesus 2000 years ago seems truly ancient. Then amplify that to get to 200,000,000 years and further back - to see a state of evolution as it was back then.

But even then you won't WITNESS evolution, it's not a flippin' movie. I think creationists refuse to acknowledge that point and prey on it despite it being quite an obvious fact.

So, because a monkey makes a better engineer than a rodent, we should make the monkey chef engineer?

Better job of teaching science? Certainly any of a very long list of countries would do a better job of teaching science than America. Pretty much every country in Europe for a start.

But the Earth is only 6,000 years old, like duh.. They even have 'geologists' who've 'proven' that and all!

Clearly god (Your free to use your own choice of favourite deity here I pick the FSM) did such a good job that they included date evidence to show the world it has always been around.

"I traced my family tree back 200 years" and probably stopped there because great great great uncle Ted was a common pickpocket in London who got transported..... Maybe he would have yeilded better research results had he traced back 200 million years... Idiot.

Either a fake article or some troll with too much time on his hands wrote in to the local paper. I just think it reads much more like someone taking the mick. I am not disputing that people this stupid exist of course; just my humble opinion on this article.

That definitely reads like a tongue in cheek article to me - I'd like to have seen the letter he was responding to though - just to put in in context. But given that it does read like a spoof - I find the responses even more amusing!
