    Help me find a gadget!

This is gonna sound stupid, basically we need:

Something capable of holding MP3s and playing an MP3 in a loop

Something you can plug into the mains

Yup, that's it. It's for on-hold music for a phone system, as you can tell it's not going to be a large file so something dirt cheap BUT it's got to have power, not USB.

    Thoughts?!

landline, it's for an office phone system, crazy that you can't just put in a flash card with a wav on it which it would loop really!

Hmm, the reviews of that usb/mains adaptor are less than encouraging in quite a few cases :/

You can pick up a landline telephone for less than a tenner that has music on hold features.

Re: Help me find a gadget!

That's kinda not the point - we have a phone system worth thousands which is in place, we were told just get an mp3 player and plug it in and that's the onhold music sorted... well yeah, till it runs out of batteries!

Re: Help me find a gadget!

For the same purpose as you've described above, I use a mains plug (from Comet IIRC) with a first gen iPod shuffle.

It's been running in a loop for a little over 2 years without issues.

Do make sure you either have a PRS license or you only use royalty free music though.

Re: Help me find a gadget!

Perhaps I'll just give one of those mains --> USB things a go then and see what happens, cheap to test I guess.

There's plenty of Royalty Free stuff, we'll be seeking something like that.
