    Re: Steve Jobs has died

Nobody's perfect but give the guy a break, he's just died.

He was undoubtedly good at what he chose to do. That he was able to keep it all going, publicly, whilst being gravely ill is inspirational. A sad loss to the tech industry, and most of all to his family and friends.

    RIP Steve.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

    Re: Steve Jobs has died

It is sad when anyone dies.

I'm neither a fan of Apple or his attitude but he there's no denying that he did some amazing things in his life.

    RIP.

Slightly off topic here but why do people keep saying that

It's essentially a square black brick it's no more sexy than the bricks that my house is built out of.

The same can be said of my Galaxy S2 there is nothing sexy about it, it's just a brick that serves a purpose.

IMO If people think square black bricks are sexy then they seriously need to take a look at their taste in aesthetics.

    Re: Steve Jobs has died

    Guys,

Could you please keep it respectful in here - yes there are always nasty jokes going around after the death of someone we all know but here is NOT the place to voice them. Keep them to yourselves and remember that other people may not have the same sense of humour as you.

I'll be cleaning this thread up as I see fit.

Also, respect other peoples opinions as their own. You might not like what they say but that's not a reason to react.

    Some sensitivity please.

Because I owned an Orange SPV M600 at the time, and that really was a black plastic brick!

The smartphone market in 2007 consisted of a couple of Nokias (N95 /6110 Navigator) and a lot of Windows Mobile phones of which I reckon my SPV was one of the better looking Drop the iPhone into that market and it really stood out - it was genuinely aesthetically pleasing. Whether "sexy" is the right word or not is debatable, but that it was a much better looking product than anything else available isn't. And that was the genius of a Jobs-driven Apple: he knew what normal people would buy...

    Re: Steve Jobs has died

Jobs has always been a controversial figure, so I guess he would be quite amused at some of the comments left here, after all, publicity is publicity!

However it is disappointing when people are so blinded by their prejudices that they have to resort to petty insults, while ignoring the fact that, regardless of his personal failings, he (with Steve Wozniak) created a company that has shaped the development of personal computing - something which none of us here can claim to have done - and also created a company that shaped the development of computer generated imagery.

I'm all for good humour when you're dealing with someone you know personally. I just find it disrespectful doing it so soon for someone you don't.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

Indeed, some people were quite rude because they didn't find a joke, which had no insults to anyone but un-employed students, funny.

I think this is the thing to someone on 'the outside', I'm in no way suggesting he wasn't a significant player, especially in engaging the normal people to want technology, much in the same way Nintendo have with the DS, but he wasn't a 'good' person, at all.

As a result I think when I see things like some of these:

I'd just like to ask, no-one's been offended by my joke have they? If anyone has I'll happily remove it.

IMO I thought it was more of a wordplay than a mock.
