My first PC was pre-built because it was for my dyslexcia, the next one evolved into a bout 3 different PC's with upgrading and where done by me, but this thing is a workstation and pre-built.

I felt I was a little out of my depth because there is loads of information on home PC's what to buy and where, whats compatable and whats not. But I couldn't find much on workstations apart from pre-built reveiws, so with that in mind I went to company that mainly supplies workstation for 3D work and left all the worry to someone else for a change, I also wanted next day on site repair (which I used twice in the year I had it).

I have to admit I didn't find out about Hexus until after I got this PC or I might have done things a little differently.

the one i'm using now is a bit of a "triggers broom"

i've only ever built myself one computer & its the one i'm using.....but since i built it, its had a new motherboard, case, ram, hard drive, processor, graphics card..etc...etc...

basically, its evolved over time & each part has been replaced/upgraded so many times i suspect there are only about 3 screws left from the original.
if it ain't broke...fix it till it is

Bought a prebuilt from Mesh about 4 years ago, started upgrading that with bits and bobs, then changed the mobo and thought bollocks lets go the whole thing. Built about ten for family and friends since and can't seem to stop tinkering. Still find this the best place to come for a crack when you come up against a brick wall.

I had my first pre-built system bout 7 years ago. This sparked my interest for computers. I replaced this computer 2 or 3 years ago and built my first computer. I had previously taken my older computer appart and some how got it back together, made some mistakes along the way but thats how you learn some times. I have since built and rebuilt many systems, and i wont be purchaseing another pre-built system ever again. And to any one wanting to build their own system.. Ave a go it certainly isnt has hard as some people may say it is. Peice of cake really.

Nope didnt build mine - Deckard did!!

I dont have the first idea about all the gubbins inside my PC, but I am interested in computers and maybe one day I might start learning about how they work. Managed to look impressed and say "oooh" and "aahhh" in all the right places when he was showing me all about it!!

Until then, I will just have to be another daft woman without a clue Im afraid!

Built mine myself and most of the others in the house with a fair bit of help off the guys in the hardware forum when stuff inevitably went wrong.

Built mine and now that we have finally become a broadband area I can begin to set up a decent home network so the kids can get online without raiding my study. Of course, seeing as how my PC is so much more powerful than the others in the house son #1 sneaks on whenever I'm not around to play Far Cry....little git
