I always build my own. Been doing that for some time now. Also build for others too!! Quite a few. Lost count!!
Nope, i've stuck a new GFx Card, BBand Modem and HD into this machine though.
And recently helped put together my cousins new machine, so im pretty sure I could go the whole hog without too much bother

yeah, i built mine, watercooled it until it broke, then built the one im on now
Under Development...
built my current pc my old one (now family pc) and built the one b4 that which is now a server also helped fix computers at my school in my free time
How'd this thread get revived?
I've built all my PCs, though it's more of a continuous upgrade than new computers.
Yep built all my last five PC's
I love building PC's - its fun and the end results are quite often pretty awesome
Cases are a real hazard - cut into ribbons sometimes.
Yep'o, built my last three.
yep self buider here - wouldn't have it any other way either. Only downside is I now have to build everyone elses. Should charge for it

i've build countless systems over the years (used to work in a local computer shop which built systems too). But i didn't build my last two 'main' systems as they were both laptops. The desktop i have (which will be for MythTV) built, but only because i wanted specific things in it. If i was just getting a general purpose desktop i would probably just Buy a Dell or something, I don't have time to plan and build a system these days.
Built my home and work machines; also a few others for special jobs at work (just bunged together 4 Shuttles to run plasmas in meeting rooms, built a box to be a network renderer including a PURE card, other stuff). Am going to have to rebuild the home one soon...the old XP2400 just isn't cutting it anymore
Used to use pre-built ones (I'm only 20) as they came with a guarantee if faulty.
However two years ago after realising building one would be cheaper than buying one, I built my first one from scratch (a 2.6Ghz to replace a 550Mhz system, notice the leap?!)
BIG MISTAKE.
It worked and now I am known as the computer Guri of the family, since then I have build 2 of my workmates computers, another one for me and my dad each, and another few for my cousins and family relatives....
Of course I wouldn't have gotten far without the bargains sections telling me where to get the parts from, and the technical pages for picking my graphics card (of my own system, the rest are standard...)
Woohoo now Assistant Manager!
I send my friends links on how to do it, and pop around if they get stuck. Its a simple affair on the whole, they only need a hand when it blows up in their face.
Plus it gives them confidence to sort their own bloody problems out, instead of relying on myself.
