Yep ive built my own PC's for the last 5 years odd now. Best way to learn about the insides is to go at them with a screwdriver.
I wouldnt be as good as i am at troubleshooting PC hardware if i had not been fiddling about with it for years.
Butuz
Yes
No
Current 2 in my house I built, would never buy a prebuilt again
Just had a thought - there is such a wealth of general (and indeed specialised) computer knowledge on this forum. How on earth are people getting away with charging £x / hr for crappy tech advice and giving people the run around when so much info is available here for free and with a smile!?!
The mind boggles...
Yep i built mine with a lot of help from hexus peeps
Its nearly a year old actually, though i have been upgrading often
I built a 486DX-33 in 1993- then didn't build another computer until 2001. Got a bit overconfident with that one and killed a Tbird 1000. Since then I've built another two and have pretty much everything I need for a third apart from memory- although the HD from the 2001 computer is still in service to this day, which is extra impressive seeing as it's an IBM!
Rich :¬)
once i rounded off the head on a motherboard screw... ended up drilling it through.... to the shock of all watching!
Zak built mine Does that count?!?!!
I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.
Done 3 for my self and continual upgrade work. Even done a few for other people too
Can remember fidling with my K6-2 when I had it first
^
na sorry... vote no now!!
Built all 8 from scratch. Its alot easier than one would think.
yeah i was well worried when i first built my first system, but yeah Nemeliza is right it's much easier than it sounds, it's only a pain when you get a duff part and have to work out what it is... good fun, i was very proud of my first computer!
most of the ones i have or have had have been built my meself
ph33r my toothbrush, for it is made of SCROTANIUM
Ive built all my PC's - i got into it doing my IT degree at uni bout 4 years ago - Bledd (posts on here) got me into building it as i lived with him in first year, ever since them its been home built all the way - he just got me into water cooling so lots of new challenges - im lovin' it!
