    how do you lot relax?

Iam very ashamed to say i dont know how to relax....

Ive always got something to do, if its not an essay its placement or reading about my speciality. If i do sit down with a book for five minutes, i find myself feeling guilty about it and cant concentrate on what im reading.

Like Moonshade, there seems to be always a row going on in our house which doesnt help matters and if there isnt, my attiude is one of defensiveness waiting for one to happen so as a result i cant seem to be able to let my guard down and relax when im at home.

    Any idea's?

Go to the gym for an hour, then a sauna & jacuzzi. Or just lisen to music & get lost in a good book. Not that I get to relax often. Always other more important things to do.

It sounds cheesy but I have this thing which makes sea noises and that really helps me relax, especially if I think of being a certain place with a certain someone

Other than that, a nice hot bath and a glass of wine.

Helps living on your own though, so you don't have to wait for the inevitable row :/

    Yeah exactly!

Something tumble said to me the other weekend tho, 'you change as soon as you step into that house. You go from being happy, smiling and rather relaxed lynni' to a 'scowling, snappy, irritable lynni and i dont like the latter one'

Im always on edge in this house and i cant help it. But i dont know how to stop it either

Hm, I must say even though I know stuff that'll help me relaxe..I don't do it often, almost never :/. It's easier to say than doing it. It feels like I've never got the right time to do the things I wish for for example:

Lit candels and listen to soft music and so on, but one thing that is quite relaxing is to be with the person you love

But I'm not a good person to ask this question to, beacause honest, I've almost forgot how to do it ! I guess you have to continue the process if you want to remember how to relaxe, but I havn't so..I'm open for suggestions.

I shout at people at work - makes them very tense, but makes me more relaxed

The important thing for you to do is to split up your time. Look at it like a job - allocate 9 til 6 to work and then have your evenings free for whatever you want to do. You'll actually get more done this way than just trying to work your guts out, because this way you can think "I've done 8 hours solid today - now it's my time" rather than "I can't relax because I have too much work to do, but I can't concentrate cause I've got too much to do" - which ends up in a circle that'll drive you mad. I saw many people drop out of university because of this.

Shared houses are always a pain - I wouldn't go back to one now. Normally it's a good idea to get out when someone starts sticking post it notes on food, or leaving notes telling people to clean things on the fridge. Best way to avoid rows is to work out whats important and learn to not care about the rest (so someone nicked some bread off you - why worry? it's only bread...). And never try to sort out anybody elses problem - leave them to do it.

Just my 2p worth that cost me a whole lot more
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

Lie on my bed and listen music or lie on the bed and chat to some friends on the phone for a bit. The latter being very girly though so i try keep that till i'm really bored or stressed

If all that fails i usually phone up a few of the guys and go to the local for a few beers and a game of pool. Thats always fairly relaxing.

I have a few beers/wine (favourite beverage) and watch a movie. Alter the type of movie to suit your mood

How about having a bath with some scented candles (not with the candles in the bath of course, that would be silly) while listening to lift music a lot of people like that...

Reading a book is good one. Generally try and slow down for a while each day, breathe, try and clear your mind- that should help <whish i could do it!
