Re: Email and web use 'to be monitored' under new laws

Just look at the internet , your having folk arrested now for saying things on Twitter like those racist remarks about that footballer.

Sure somes not good , but how many comments on forums or elsewhere are just the same or worse, and how exactly can you tell whether their joking or not ?

There was already story about this when 2 uk kids joked on twitter about how one of them was going to dig up Marylin Monroes grave or something , and next thing the cops at the airport are all over them and their deported...

    FOR A JOKE...

Re: Email and web use 'to be monitored' under new laws

The fact that governments have been screening emails for years never bothered anyone until it came out into the open.

Chances are the government has probably been logging web usage for years as well but only now decided to make it official.

get every hallucinogenic substance known to man and put it the water supplies and have a lottery -

the combined jolt of the worlds self awareness even rising 1% would be enough to change the history of man .

No one would want to live as they did again .

What concerns me the most is that you never know where this collected data is going to end up. The government and government run agencies have a history of losing data.

Re: Email and web use 'to be monitored' under new laws

A new law - which may be announced in the forthcoming Queen's Speech in May - would not allow GCHQ to access the content of emails, calls or messages without a warrant.
In order to get access to the content they'll need a warrant.

If you happen to share the same name as someone on 'the list' then you've probably got something to worry about, otherwise as long as you stop texting your chums about your plans to take over the world I think you'll be ok.

This is rediculoua has no one hlgot a right to privacy anymore we might as well through the word out of the dictionary altogether

never mind GCHQ - once this is place everyone will want some of it. Just like last time you'll end with parking wardens and the dog pound having access to your comms.

Bad luck if your online dating, watching porn, checking that rash, or god forbid accessing the Pirate Bay.
Kafka has this covered of course. Much more accurate than Orwell.

"In Falkirk, which used Ripa 380 times, citizens could be spied on for noise nuisance, littering, if they were suspected of driving a taxi without a licence, for breaching the smoking ban and if their expense claims were thought to be exaggerated."

God forbid you should light up in a public space. This sort of anarchy gives the local council all the authority they need to come down on such anti-social behaviour. If you think this is only in Scotland...think again.

    Or possibly Atari.
