Is Xcelsion having a laugh or is he being serious? I really can't tell. If he's thinking IE is good then he must be having a laugh?

Is security and tabbed browsing the only things that people like about it? I can't see why so many do? I mean, for one, its much slower than IE at loading images, and it doesn't have the explorer integration.
I wonder whether people are taking this 'Firefox gives you security' lark a bit to seriously... It can only last so long, and then someones gonna take advantage of people's unswerving belief that firefox is secure, and bite them all on the ass with a major exploit.

I'm not a great fan of Internet Explorer KeZZeR, but I think it'll turn out to be better than FireFox in the not so distant future.

Also, try using FTP on FF and then on Internet Explorer. I think you'll see something of a difference. IE7 will most probably give people the features they turned to FireFox for, and I think I've made my opinion of FireFox's security evident previously.

I doubt it - Opera is probably the most widely used browser on mobile phones & you can certainly reel off a large no. of points where Opera is better than IE (speed being 1 of them).Originally Posted by Xcelsion

i wouldnt be so sure about tabbed browsing - its been available in other browsers for years and years and years - as long as i can remember and i've been using the net since '95!

i like firefox and didnt have speed issues, but i keep goin back to IE for some reason. Probably cos i have to use it at work and i cant be arsed to install it on 4 machines at home
i only stick with IE because I have to use it at work. The only time i use Firefox, or any other browser, is to make sure my websites display correctly.
I agree with Xcelsions point about FireFox security though - the reason FireFox is more secure is because no one is looking for holes in it. Are the hacking community really going to want to hurt a microsoft competitor? The survey, it say no.
It'd be interesting to see whether IE 7 will -at last - display page items correctly, especially CSS. Whadda you reckon?
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
I would use Firefox but even when configured it's still slower.

I use Firefox because, at the moment, it has less security problems. You can easily use plugins for various things. It follows standards, like CSS, properly. It has tabbed browsing. It doesn't decide to crash every so often.

Keep up the good comments guys!
Btw, is there anyone here which uses Opera on their desktop/laptop?

As for Excelsion's opinion of FF's security, sorry, but it doesn't hold water. MS are only now making IE more secure with the blocking of automatic execution of ActiveX controls, and they're STILL getting problems with ActiveX; look at the recent critical advisory regarding a remotely exploitable vuln in the DHTML editing ActiveX control - MS Advisory - for example. Bugtraq currently lists 10 advisories for FF 1.0, as against 30 for IE6SP2 alone. Then compare the severity of the bugs and see how many are remotely exploitable via a malicious webpage or FTP server for IE. Now Firefox has been out in a reasonably developed form for over a year (I'd say 0.8 was reasonably developed) and has been usable for a bit longer than that, and has been rapidly increasing its usage in that time; moreover, it's easier to find a vuln in Firefox, since the source code is public. If the flaws were there, they'd be found.
