Btw, seeing as we are talking about Microsoft products which are intergrated into Windows, does anyone know what will happen after the EU decided that there must be a version of Windows without Media Player? Will Microsoft make a Media edition of Longhorn, and a non-media version? Or will they just make it an automatic update...

I reckon when it comes out firefox will probably lose market share as people cant
really be arsed with installing it. As it will probably be a windows update people will
automatically install it. The diff between the two will be smaller and people will have
little motivation to install firefox.
I think if opera had of been called firefox im sure more people would have used it, its
got a bit of a gay uninspiring name and that has an effect on people i think.
What are firefox and the like going to do about this new phishing vuln? to me that is a
really big easily used flaw that many people would get caught by. If you ask me i
think that you should only be allowed to register in one language and not mix them.
Or the browsers should just not accept them then people wont do it.
Actually, talking of phishing, we've all seen those programs which show the true URL of a page... Why not intergrate one of them into Internet Explorer 7 / FireFox 1.1?
New Sig on the Way...
Yes, but don't you think it'd be smart to make it an official part of the program(s)?
I mean, phishing is such a threat these days, it would be a good idea to include it for people who wouldn't bother with plugins etc?

doesnt help with the mixed language urls though does it? have they said what they will do?
Firefox has hundreds of extensions that people might or might not find useful; most developed by the community. What gets included in the distribution is the browser; the user has a choice whether to install extensions or themes or not.Originally Posted by Xcelsion

Suppose, but do you think anyone would object to such a thing included in FireFox?
Hell, we're argueing over trivial things here.

Maybe not, but then it'd be nice if MS included protection against THIS...oh, the IE version of SpoofStick does that...Originally Posted by Xcelsion
Seriously, though, there are many reasons for not including a particular extension in a browser distro; for some time, Tab Browser Extensions was the de facto method of controlling tabbed browsing for FF, but I (and a lot of other people) use Tab Browser Preferences instead; I prefer it, and I have that choice. Don't like the way one extension handles downloads? Fine, choose another.

Nope, I have the latest patched version of IE, and when I tried the test, it loaded, but then disapeared and showed the real URL, and a 'page cannot be displayed'.
Internet Explorer 1 - 0 Phishers

Yeah - I agree with what a lot of people have said. People just aren't looking to abuse firefox because it's non-mircrosoft. I'm sure there are flaws in it, but no one has found them yet. Therefore it has a better security record which is why people like it for security.

Also, Xcelsion - are you trying to up your post count or something???? I might understand 2 posts in a row (incase someone posts while you're replying), but 3+ in a row is just daft! Isn't there a rule against that? Haven't you heard of editing your posts?
I HAVE NOW EDITED THIS POST (hint hint!):
http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.p...6&page=3&pp=15
Good illustration of this. No ofence, but it make the threads a lot bulkier, and it could maybe be described as spammy?
Upping my post count isn't a priority, I just think of something else I forgot to say, and post again.
Soz if thats annoyed anyone, from now on I'll edit.

Done the system restore thing already, tried absolutely everything. Think its decided to call my PC home. Will be formatting it the weekend anyhow, its not causing bother as I dont use IE at all.
I removed IE by going to add / remove progs then windows components and removed IE that way, yeah windows is built round it but its gone as a web browser on my system. Only wat to access it now is using windows update. I know its still there in the background, but I'm extremely happy with firefox
Anyone got an idea how Microsoft would take Internet Explorer out of Windows if the EU tells them to? Its been built into Windows quite heavily since 98, and core parts of explorer are actually parts of internet explorer too.
