Does IE7 require an A64/P4 3ghz+ too then?

I'm going to stick with Firefox, but provided they sort out box model rendering I'll be a happy chappy!

Just noticed, apprently Ie7 will support tabbed browsing out of the box, have an adware blocker built in, and anti virus too

    Didnt see that coming

It wouldn't need antivirus if it wasn't so exploit ridden in the first place..
Anyone else getting the feeling that IE7 won't be much more than IE6 with a bunch of bolt-ons?

I think the same. A couple of months back MS said there wouldn’t be a new browser for a good while. And now suddenly their releasing IE7. I think they underestimated the competition namely FF, and now their panicking. I just hope MS co-operate with the W3C and use their standards in IE7 instead of trying to make their own.

Not a hope; they're not going to rejig the entire browser to make it standards compliant or they'd already have done it. Looks to me more as though they're going to take the same engine, drop in a tabbed browsing overlay and the pop-up blocker from the MSN Toolbar. Then tell people they don't need Firefox because "Look! We do tabs too!"...

To be honest, i doubt that'll be the case. IE is a right bodge job, and their "Support" for W3C standards is odd to say the least.

ie4 was better than netscape 4 though

    just a shame ie6 hasn't changed a bit in the 8 years since ie4

The most popular browser will always be the one with the most security issues. Not MS's fault. Its the determination of the hacker rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish

Second that - I've tried Firefox/Opera and forced my friends to use it (because they are rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish that have buggered up their IE's)
But in the hands of a capable user, I have found IE to be the easiest to use and most reliable browser over the years.
There are bound to be those that dispute this, but these are often the same people who b0rk up their IE by going on dodgy porn sites etc.
Although firefox is good, it lacks completeness and has several niggling problems that I have found to slow me down.

I'm actually quite the opposite of you. The only thing that I think is really wrong with FF is that it can't display/work some sites correctly, so you have to go back to IE. Most of these are microsoft sites like windows update etc, so I can live with that .

if popular=insecure, why are there more exploits, viruses and worms for microsoft's IIS web server than the far more popular Apache open-source web server?

If FF was the original 'browser' big name browser like IE, then everybody would be targeting it now. Microsoft is just the default and enourmous name which most people have on their computer - it's easy and most productive for hackers e.t.c. to exploit that.
