I lost almost 2 stone when i got my first girlfriend. My mother was like "where is it going, is she stopping you from eating!?!?" bless her. Trouble is, after about 10 years on and an ongoing relationship, almost the inverse is true

As for trimming your tummy, apart from eating/drinking less and walking more, the best method is sit ups / crunches - lots and every day. Start with 20 a day for the first week, then 50 a day for the next then go up to 100 (split morning and night in needed). Eventually aim for 100 morning and 100 night after a month or two. You will be amazed at the difference and you will eat less too.

i went from 19 stone to 15.5 which i am now and im on third week of my weight training regime which ive had to stop due to fracturing my foot but i lost it when i moved out of parents house 300 miles away to manchester... 19 stone to 16 and half in 5 months... from eating alot less and walking 6-8 miles a day due to working as a caretaker...

now i keep it off becuase ive researched into a diet and a weight training plan that i do 3 times a week and i eat healthy (as much as poss at 21) try cutting out any fast food and replace any bread/pasta with wholegrain and any butter with olive oil butter.... and try instead of snacking on kitkats and surgary ****.. try weatbix with a little honey on...mmmm

Funny how this thread bump didn't seem that ridiculous because it was originally posted in by members who are still active to this day.

FWIW I weight a bit less now than I did in 2003, need to get down the gym and put some weight on.

    Re: losing weight

I wonder how the OP got on in the end...

A great way to lose weight is to go for a brisk 20 minute walk every morning immediately after waking up (before eating anything), fast enough so that your heart is pumping and you break a light sweat. You of course have to be eating sensibly (i.e. less calories than you burn in a whole day) to lose any weight though!

    Re: losing weight

I've actually started a muscle-mass gain and simultaneous weight-loss routine, with a controlled diet and mild suppliments to assist! Over 3 weeks I've went from like 20% to 18% BF just with controlled weight and cardio routines every week

Weight loss is nowhere NEAR as difficult as I thought it would be. You just have to do it right/most efficiently.

Cool, but dont be fooled mate. Its not a consistent curve, you will usually plateau at some point. The first bit is easy, depending on where you are starting from, but progress eventually stall or even reverse no mater how well you think you are doing, which if your not careful will really know you confidence. Some people will rightly be happy with what they have a achieved and stop, but the path to true fitness is not about what you do to lose the weight and gain/tone muscle, but how you cope and respond when you hit that wall - trust me it will happen

Cut out the fat and the white carbs, combined with moderate exercises and you will notice the difference

    Re: losing weight

You don't have to starve yourself too much. Fat loss is just about exercise and workouts. Another thing one should be persistent about it.

Well, many would disagree with you, because some people think that it's just about what you eat, and exercise is hardly a factor of fat loss.

But I disagree with both opinions, and when you mix the two together, you'll get the best results.

    Re: losing weight

I go with the diet and exercise route. You can sit in a chair all day and eat hardly anything and you will lose weight. You can eat quite a lot and do a half marathon each day and lose weight. Or you can eat less than before and moderately exercise and lose weight. I know which I prefer.

Well I am out for approx 3 miles fast walk with the dog every morning and I am loosing very little weight so I think that you are correct in that in my case I am eating too much. This losing weight is quite difficult -agh ,off for a bike run now. .

p.s. nothing wrong with this thread being resurrected as very important subject for the nation.
