Have you tried calling phone company and explaining the funds will be there in a few days.

I did the same thing for my council tax last week because it was due the day before payday and they just said make sure you call on payday and pay by phone.

If your not a regular late payer.. like the previous posters have stated... inform them of your situation.. see what they say. Normally they are cool about it and expect you to pay on the day you have stated and if you don't.. charge you penalty fees/cut off your line.. etc.

You're perfectly within your rights to cancel the payment, left it a bit late now though.

Going overdrawn isn't the worth thing in thw world. Go into the branch tomorrow and explain whats happening. I dont know halifax myself, but most will agree and an overdraft with you and considering it's a small amount i doubt you'll have any trouble.

A bank tranfer would take a few days anyway, even if its the same bank. After the first transfer, you can then do other transfers from the same person that clear the same day. That true for most banks anyway (fraud protection).

Doesnt for hsbc, but I suppose that could depend on the bank and type of account.

Normal Halifax to Halifax transfers are instant across all branches and the funds are available to use immediately.

Not true if its your first time transferring to that account. I need to wait a day for it to "verify" before I can initiate any money transfer.

Only transfers within the same bank are instant i.e. HSBC to HSBC and Halifax to Halifax.

Transfers between different banks always take a few days.
