Tests - failed first, (2 majors for silly things, 6 minors) second test passed (4 minors)
Lessons - 25 hours, should have been 20 if I'd passed first time....
cant remember how many lessons i had.. quite a lot i reckon!
passed on second go. failed the first after white van man made a last second change-of-mind at a roundabout.
ANGER

However.. I did get a lot of practise in and the lessons weren't rushed. Practise over time is worth a lot more than just cramming in lessons.
One of my new years resolutions is to pass my driving test. I had 10 lessons when I was 17 and decided I preferred fast motorbikes instead.
Good luck with yours
Failed first time with 3 major faults (no dangerous faults at least) and about 8 minor faults.
Then passed the second with 24 - count 'em - minor faults. I think I made basically every mistake twice, when the third time on any one of them is strike you're out.
Think I probably had something like 40 hours of lessons too. Took me ages as well, couldn't afford more than one a week No practice mind you; I owned 1/8 of a cavalier but this was the days before mobile phones so trying to work out where it was parked was a mission in itself
You can't pass with 24? Max 15...
This was a few years ago mind, so times have changed or maybe my addled mind is mistaken. No theory test for me anyway
I remember driving along looking at the sheet out the corner of my eye (and not the road), and seeing all these oblique strokes to record the minor faults but I couldn't see any that had been upgraded to X's...didn't want to get my hopes up though....
i pulled out and turned left on a roundabout wen the bus was going straight on so covered me.........yeah, u cant do that wen ur learning its so diff wen u pass, i cant wait.
obiously i wont drive dangerously! but to be told how to shut the door properly as part of a 1st lesson is slightly taking the piss! its apparently routine....it wasnt bcoz i cudnt shut it right wivout being told btw
which company you with? cause thats BS....
If I remember correctly, I passed my driving test after 10 lessons or so. But it was like 17 years ago when the test was much easier. I couldn't even answer most of the questions examiner asked correctly at the end of the test, but he gave me a license anyway. Good old days
BTW, I was really surprised when my first lesson started on the road. Because in my country you first practice inside driving school to get a grip with driving and only after you pass the first test, you will be entitled to drive outside on the real road. And then you practice on the road to prepare for the final test. In this country instructor didn't even teach me how to use clutch and asked me immediately to start the car. The car was parked in narrow, sloped, overcrowded car park in north west London, imagine my initial strain Luckily I had prior experience of riding a motorcycle so somehow survived this horrible situation, but it was like a nightmare.
Anyway, good luck on your test
I'm learning to drive too, had around 60 lessons and two instructors, first Instructor rang me two weeks before my 2nd test to tell me she's given up, found an excellent Instructor who I failed my 2nd test with, should've cancelled that test really but he said let's go for it! I failed because I stalled which caused another Car to slow, so 1 serious and 11 minors which considering that I wasn't really used to the Car wasn't too bad really, thought i'd got a serious for speeding again, driving down a nsl road the Examiner was talking, I looked at the speedo and saw it creep past 65, looked at the Examnier and he was looking ouyt the window so I slowed down quick which made him look, he must've thought I was slowing down for the approaching roundabout, didn't even get a minor, my Instructor reckons he'd be able to tell how the fast the car was going by not looking, so I can't understand why it wasn't marked ( only had around 4 lessons before test ) 1st test I had 2 serious 1 for speeding and 1 for a lack of obs on my reverse around a corner and 7 minors.
Looking to book the thrid for end of Jan early February,
16 lessons, but they were two hour ones which are far more useful imo. at the time i was also driving to and from college every day (mother worked there) and about 4 hours on a weekend. Getting out in your own car helps loads. passed first time with 4 minors, and looking back, was still a horrendously unsafe driver.
I took millions of lessons, but only because work needed me to be driving so they paid for it all - an hour a day for 3 months!
I failed my first test for "Not making reasonable progress" Basically I missed a gear turning right on an uphill junction onto a de-restricted road and held up 2 people who blasted past me anyway....
2nd test I aced - nowt wrong in the slightest... the examiner nearly marked me down for being late with a mirror check, but told me he couldn't be arsed and it wouldn't make a difference anyway
