I would like a nice 17" TFT, currently saving up for one, it must have a response time of atleast 16ms, atleast 450:1 Contrast ratio and DVI connector. Right now I have a 19" Samsung SyncMaster955b, Its a horrible CRT Monitor, I have had countless problems with it, and it took samsung over 5 months to replace it when it blew up.
TFT's are still in a pretty early stage for technology, I'm sticking with my CRT for a few years yet, Until TFT's can output colors properly and not have "dead pixels"
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ | Connect3D Radeon 9600PRO | Seagate Barrcuda 80GB HDD | 512mb PC2700 Crucial RAM | MSI KT6 Delta FIS2R | Zorro Silver Case | Windows XP/Gentoo Linux
Well when my last CRT gave up the will to display I looked around at TFT's. This was about a year or so ago. I went to the local PC world to see how good screens had got, they were all running movies/demos etc. and all looked terrible on motion - no way they would look any better with FPS gaming. I'm assuming todays models have improved this a lot. Then I found out about the dead pixel thing and that fact combined with being a lot more expensive than a straight CRT replacement I didn't bother.
They are definitely the future but I wouldn't get rid of a CRT just to get one I will just re-asses them the next time I need a display (hopefully years away ).
Init - also no one answered my question, how much would it cost me to get a 21" TFTOriginally Posted by Platinum

A 21.3" display would cost £800+. Those lovely 23" Apple cinema displays cost ~£1600.

ive just bought a 19" hyundai imagequest Q995 flatscreen crt for something like £140 and i have to say its very nice indeed and extreemly good quality picture wise,i didnt think i could get any better quality than my 17" lg 776fm flatron crt but i was pleasantly supprised.
i do have an 18" aoc tft which shares the same deskspace as my hyundai and lg but it only gets used for web browsing etc as doesnt come close to the picture quality of my crt,s for gaming.
My 21" Sony Trinitron gives me a crisp pictaah on a flat screen and it only cost me £150. sooooo until TFT's can offer me that quality for a price like that my CRT will continue to reign supreme
I was going to buy a 17" TFT last time i came to upgrade my monitor (a couple of months ago). But every single one i looked at i was not impressed by at all.
In the end i plumped for a 19" Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 93SB. For £200 the image quality is superb, the contrast is great, the Super Bright modes are very good and the refresh rates & resolutions are insane!
Still not convinced by TFT myself yet (unless i had a spare £1000 to spend on it...).

Personally i dont think their quite ready for hardcore gamming. Their very near the edge which is why im going to wait a year or so before i decide on weather i get one or not. When i do get one i know i will never get a CRT again.
