    Re: New Monitor Advice

Received my monitor today, came bright and early.

Got it out of the box and put it on my desk... WOW!!!

This monitor is amazing! I've already tried some HD apple trailers and bloody hell! This thing is superb!
My panel is the SA - LTM240M2 - L01. Is that good? Out of the box display settings are great, don't know if I should tamper with it! Haven't seen any dead pixels yet! No noticeable backlight bleed! No faults thus far! Going to need to pop down for a dvi to dvi connector however, it's connected via vga atm.

Only thing that caught be by surprise was the fact it comes with a european plug socket, and not a UK one. But there's plenty of those around my house!

Thanks! (Pictures will come later after i've uploaded them)

    Re: New Monitor Advice

glad you like it! if you search for that panel you'll find out that its a s-pva panel made by samsung. LTM240M2 has been used in alot of different monitors, my hyundai 24" being one of them as well as a number of eizos (v. expensive brand). your specific L01 panel (guessing a revision of the original or something along those lines) is also found in the eizo ce240w.

hmm.. shame about the plug, my friend's one came with a uk plug i'm pretty sure

    Re: New Monitor Advice

    Hey again...

Just updating you with some pics

Going from a 17" to this baby is insane. Strangely enough I can play company of heroes on the 1920x1200 resolution, same settings as before, and it runs smoothly! By the way I've heard of people having problems with the brightness of the blue light, yet it seems fine to me. Quality of the plastic seems to be questioned by many as well, yet it feels good to me. Might just be my differing expectations of the monitor though.

Posted some pics because when I was looking for them on this monitor they were hard to come by.

    Proof that it's a PVA:

Overall the pictures don't do it justice, it looks a hell of a lot better in real life (as just about everything does) and looks one hell of a lot bigger in real too. I would recommend anybody to get this monitor! As a side note, ordering from Misco was a good deal. I ordered the 3 day delivery option, but on the side of my package it read 'Next Day Delivery'. Superb!

    Re: New Monitor Advice

i'm glad i spotted this thread, cos i was thinking of buying one of these i was slightly concerned about the tacky plastic surroung :S but my other option is an acer with the same panel but £80 more so its not really worth it just for a bit of plastic, so reading this and seeing how you dont think the plastic is too bad i'll prolly go and buy 1
    cheers mate

    Re: New Monitor Advice

Taktak, just to say this monitor is ACE! I too considered many other brands of monitor, but now that I have this beauty she's never leaving my desk! You don't realise just how big they are until you get one! I received one with a panel that is used on a £1000 eizo monitor, and mine was £215. The value in this monitor is simply, outstanding.

Twill be sweet when I find a decent wall mount. I'm going to have to add a piece of wood onto my wall, because it's actually going to be mounted in a corner, and thus needs a flat surface. I'm also going to buy a SCART to VGA lead and plug a freeview box in, the quality can't be wasted on just a monitor!

Also, I believe you can use an xbox 360 with this. However I have came to believe that it does not support 1:1 pixel mapping (from so i've heard) so it might be a problem?

Ha, yeh. But money well spent. Picked up a DVI to DVI connector today Also realised that it comes with a UK and a European plug, I just didn't notice the UK one.

HDCP as standard, as it says on the side of my box

Yep that's the one I ordered! They use city link. I'm indifferent about couriers but after witnessing that my "3 Day Delivery" option that I paid for was actually labeled as 'Parcel Next Day' (an extra £5) on the box I was very pleased.

    Re: New Monitor Advice

I hope it all goes great for you it's a superb monitor. I watched a HD movie yesterday the clarity was great! My girlfriend was mesmerised by it's size too (lol no pun intended) but I couldn't go back to anything smaller than this now. I mean not only is it bigger but the colours also look much better on this.

OOps , Don't use sticky stuff remover to get rid of the goeyness left by the logo protection sticker....

i now have no logo (it was just a bit of stuck on metal its not sunk in or anything) but i'm glad i did it because IMHO it looks better without it because it's more streamlined., i'll get a picture up when i find a camera

Haha glad you like it! I've been loving it since. Yeh i'm fairly surprised why people think the plastic is tacky it feels fine to me! I barely notice the LED light tbh...

Lol I never did get rid of the sticky stuff on the logo, I haven't yet peeled back the film. I don't really notice it so i'm not too bothered xD

Heh i'm on the same boat on getting a new graphics card, but my 8600gts 512 seems to be holding out in most games so far.
