As I've said, I dont know much about ATI's cards at all, so wait till webby, staffsmike or anyone else that knows about ATI cards see this thread XD

You won't have any problems with Aria, dude. Used them for years and sent a few bits back myself. Just send it back in what they sent it to you in, or a decent box if it came in one of those silly Citylink bags. Must admit I think I just emailed them a scan of the receipt last time and they were happy.
Is that the Club3D 4850 they have on offer atm? Got this thing with most modern graphics cards looking ugly (dont care how fast they are!), but that headsink isnt too bad. hmmm
yea it came in one of those stupid bags. I dno if its on offer anymore but im concidering getting a refund and finding a slightly better version that fits into single slot. Problem is finding one and i want to get this 1 returned asap
Sorry I missed this yesterday.
I would of started by saying, call them on the phone, tell them your problem and get an RMA
A card this new and a fault this simple ie fault on day of purchase/receiveing & physical defect. most companies will jump through hoops to help you.
If a product arrives DOA or FOA then you have a strong standing under the law, I not saying sick the lawers on them or even threaten, just that you are in a strong legal position and all companies will know that.
You should contact the shop/e-tailer you got it from originally before sending it back to get a valid RMA (Return merchandise authorisation) otherwise they can refuse to receive the goods.
I wouldn't be surprised if they offered to sort out the postage for you or arranged a swap out sight unseen.
Although I've never had to RMA with Aria before, other e-tailers I've used have done swap outs before, but only for DOA items.
@mehmeh, the cooler is made by Zerotherm GX810 or the newer GX815
Same cooler that's used on most of the powercolor brand ati cards

I will phone them in the morning because it doesnt need testing you can tell by looking at it that its faulty. Ill explain it to them and ask them to send a replacement immediatly. Its my 18th birthday present so id like it asap
As for postage, i got an extra copy from the PO that ill scan and send to them.
Im itching to use this card and cod5 is released friday so idealy id like it by then

Hi,being off centre might be part of the design, catching on heatsink, obviously isn't.
Forgive my memory & proper word usage, but you do get pumps etc that are off centre(vane pumps etc).If you look the blades have no angle on them like a typical axial fan,so might work more like a centrifugal one(but might not be taking air input from just the centre).
Bit rusty without checking out a few things & dosn't seem to conform to one type.
Cheers BOB
ps so maybe no cause for worry, especially if replacement works well.
lmao alot of technical terms in there i have no idea what you just said
The fan is most certainly meant to be centred, the only reason you would have a fan/pump with off centre would be to increase pressure at that point this cooler wouldn't even do that. Its broken Its been sent back hopefully the replacement will be good
I phoned them this morning telling them it wll be with them today i need a replacement soon and she said they cant send a replacement until they check its faulty and they cant do that until its on their system which takes 24hrs so shes going to phone me tomorrow to keep me updated so hopefully ill have it by friday or saturday. If not some time next week
The should be no reason for them to check it on a system the card is visibly faulty and even if it was not faulty you can return it for a full refund within 7 days of receiving it anyway no questions asked under the distance selling regulations.
Welcome to the joy that is dealing with Aria's RMA process...
Some years ago now (in fact the last time I dealt with Aria) I ordered a socket A shuttle, an Athlon XP3200, some DDR and an IDE drive to go with it. They shipped the s478 variant of the shuttle and a SATA disk, so I returned the lot for refund as I'd had quite enough of them by this point (it being the straw that broke the camel's back). Nothing had even been opened, yet they insisted on testing every part despite the fact that as far as I was concerned they were all working fine (they were all in fact still sealed).
Hi,not saying the fan in this case should not be central, prob should be,had a knock maybe if HS mounting/fan axle are all on same base plate?(if there all similar, you can prob bet, they are designed that way).Funny how theres no pitch angle/shape on the impeller blades, like a normal axial fan(or even pump),is it taking air in vertically & creating a vortex(would have thought so),or from the open ends of the heatsink & acting a bit like a cross flow fan?.It does seem to be outletting circumferential, air passing through circular heatsink, whatever,i would have thought. But without going all techy look at these pics, pressure, efficiency & flow, suction, outlet etc etc,are different depending on pump/fan design:-
Vane(mainly liqids) & centrifugal(air & liquids):-

CBA to explain or check up details etc, lifes too short ,bad enough when i was getting paid to do so.
Cheers BOB
ps which path does the fluid or whatever take in the gear type pump? ,some might go for the obvious, maybe?
Clue,it isn't a mangle.

Well since the image has the direction of flow on it...
But it acts like a water wheel so the fluid is carried over the top of the gears (between the teeth) and then can not continue where the gears mesh so if forced onwards to be part of whatever nefarious plans you have for it!
off center does work on impeller type pumps, while they use the same style blower (fan) to draw in gas/fluid from on direction and push it out at a 90degree direction
the offsetting works to add compression within an enclosed housing to increase the output flow from the housing.
The important point here is "housing", if you look inside a cooler with a blower and housing you'll often find the fan off center so that the air can get spun around and pushed over the cooling fins which only lay in one direction from the blower.
however this cooler surrounds the blow with fins connected to a heat pipe so it's pushing air out in all directions over them not focusing the air into a single stream.
PS Webby what happened to the giraffe?
I liked that icon
