Things are looking bleak for the XFX Ultras
Problem with XTs is that unless PCW get some in, you'll be waiting till September because of the long pre-order queues. Retailers seem to be getting 10 in a week at most

Yeah indeed. Been talking to others with Ultra's and they're great cards aparantly. I was impressed with the score i got with mine. I went for the XFX because it has the 1200 memory speed. Think I will just get an XT instead.

Am around number 15 in the order que for the HIS at OCUK although this maybe lower now people are changing orders to 6800's. Can also get one from casetech as soon as they come into stock there so hopefully wont be waiting more than a couple of weeks.

Just noticed the fan never spins up to full speed either like it does when the machine is first turned on.

Just need to wait for PCW to email me back about the RMA for the ultra.

Update: OcUK and Tekheads have the POV 6800 Ultra in stock.
OcUK have the Leadtek GT in stock (retail and OEM). OEM has a smaller HSF.
PCW Comp Centre have the XFX 6800GT in stock.
Scan have the AOpen GT in stock (very nice card)
X800Pros are available at your favourite online retailer

Quite curious how the POVs are usually the ones in stock, they have a solid bundle (Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time), packaged well (metal box) and have a toy figure (I think its Nalu) that says something. So either POV are releasing bucket loads of Ultras, or nobody is interested

GTs seem to be selling out very quickly since Doom3. Some of the POV 6800GTs seem to be clocking to Ultra Extreme speeds, so if you want to risk a GT over an Ultra this could work out well. Maybe POV use 1.6ns mem chips on the GT? PNY GTs also tend to OC either to extreme levels or are very conservative (won't match Ultra speeds).

Oh and Sapphire X800XT is in stock at.... just kidding

    Dont tease about the XT's

Think i'll try a POV Ultra now I've got an RMA for me XFX. According to their forums OCUK got over 100 of them so lookd like POV have done a good job at producing them.

Have noticed how the POV and Aopen come clocked at 400/1100 2D and 425/1100 3D so looks like a new standard thing. Will see how it clocks when it turns up.

Looks good, clocks well. Don't think it has a bundle, so you don't pay extra for stuff you don't need. AOpen are a very good brand imo.

Well overclockers were kinda lying about the POV. Ordered it last night. Was displayed instock then and all today up until 5pm. Mine hasnt been shipped and I havnt got an email back asking why it wasnt or how long to wait. Sent them an email asking to cancel the order for it and a x800XT i had on order from them only to get a snotty automated response telling me "re sending your mail will only slow down responses for everybody".

So if you send them more than 1 email with in a certain period you get a snotty email back even if its a different email.

They've shut their phone lines too to concentrate on only email contact

Have ordered the BFG from PCW instead now so that should be here friday. Reasonably glad OCUK did lye about the POV card now as I get a lifetime warranty with the BFG and heard good things about their support.

Now I've got a nice little email off them asking politely why I want to cancel these orders! Strange how fast they get in touch when your taking a good amount of money away!

    Platty,

Has your BFG card turned up? How are you getting on with it? What speeds can you achieve on the core and memory? Is it like the others (425/1100memory as standerd?) I wanted to order one of those but that site's security settings are noting short of ludicrous. Tried to place 4 orders with 2 different credit cards and all were automatically cancelled even though my card company authorised the payment! Sent around 10 emails, but they refused to explain why it was happening. Its really frustrating to sit here and see them wandering of the shelves!

Nah I ordered it at 7 last night so it'll ship today and I'll get it tomorrow morning when I'll let ya know how it does. Does look a nice card and the lifetime warranty is a very nice extra.

Heard it comes either at 425 or 430. Seem them clock reasonably high in the reviews too.

Just keep tryin with the order as PCW component shop hasnt let me down so far.

Price has gone up £2 since i ordered it too.
