    Someone must know

I am asking because the dell UK site states the monitor as 16ms and 20" - which differs from everything I have read online (even dell US) about the model.

Trying to talk to someone from dell has proved pointless.

    Thanks
I want to buy the 2005FPW but would still like to know the answer to my first question (above).

Dell UK are offering a deal:
20% OFF all Dell Flat Panels (Dell LCD TV not included)
    Expires 26 January 2005

If the US model is superior I'd prefer to go for that one. But if the UK model is the same I don't want to miss out.

    ...someone must know?

i think CRT is generally 4 to 6 ms, TFT will probably be replaced with OLED which have 2 ms response times.. im not sure if this is an absolute value though.

In TFT the change from black to white or vice versa is not the slowest response time by a long way. Its one of the quickest from what i can tell from info on the net.

Heh I have a 19" LG CRT, and I finally took the bullet and bought the Dell 2005FPW. I bought it through small business, through my dad, came to £495 in total, inc. VAT. The 20% discount however got extended to 23rd of February or something, but I ordered it on the 26th

Coming this Monday, i cant wait!

BTW, wouldn't the UK model be the same as the international models? Just assuming. The response time is 12ms grey to grey, and 16ms black to white or whatever, apparently.

    hi,

i am also considering the dell 20" widescreen lcd along with the 17 / 19 / 20" they do.

have people had any problems with it who have ordered in the last week or so?

any backlight bleeding? i have heard so many horror stories in regards to this problem.

    any dead faulty pixels?

it says it comes with a 3 year warranty....what does this exactly mean? does it mean if in 6 months times u have severe backlight or screen problems they'll replace it free of charge?

    any other information about it?

it has gone down to £475 since today

can people post any pictures of the screen who have recently bought it?

i am aware there are different rev's

    thanks,

the UK versions of the 2005FPW are decidely dodgey and suffer from a major amount backlight leakage and dead pixels. Of course there probably are some good ones in the UK but I've yet to read about them. If you want one its probably better to wait until a new revision is released and you hear of some satisfied customers.

    thanks Tarffie,

but it has 3 years warranty.....

couldn't i just buy one and try and be happy for a few weeks or months with it and then get a replacement via complaining of the different problems?

    thanks,

Anyone use one of these as a TV/console screen? Im looking for a one-screen solution at uni due to space. Does this display do a good job of PS2 games etc?

Im getting mine today, i will hook it up and tell you whatever I can GODDAM i haven't been this eager for the delivery man like this before.

Yea once it comes in, providing they deliver when someone is in the house, then I will plug my PS2 in and see what happens.... if i have the right leads to plug it in.

One dude in america got so many of these replaced that dell simply refunded him and suggested another monitor lol.

BAH, the crapppy Walsh Western (TNT) delivery person 'ran out of time' apparently, to delivery my monitor :@ so all he done was carry it around on a bumpy ride for a day. I will be sure to post something of a review once it does get here, however.

I also read that storing the monitor face-down helps weaken the strength of backlihgt leakage.

Hehe City Link couldn't find my Village, so they sent mine back and i had to cancel to save my sanity which cost me £25.

Oh well with the amount of backlight problems and another price reduction means i'll have a look at TFT's in the future. If it would have turned up i JUST KNEW it would've been faulty. I must've ended up with Adolf Hitlers soul as somone up there is dumping on me from a great height.

Well I got mine a few days ago, writing up a short review soon (not yet though, busy with college work ) i got 2 dead pixels, both close to the edge, and because they are SO incredibly small you have to spend a few seconds looking for them eventhough you know where they are.

Backlight leakage. Peachy from bottom left corner, white from top right (both major) and minor from bottom right. OOO definately, my one is quite bad, but its no where near as bad and annoying as people claimed it to be. I am still considering if I should get a replacement or not, but i paid alot of money for this so theres no harm in doing so ;D. But i only got two almost invisible dead pixels...

Bah, my 19" Dell Ultrasound TFT cost me about £500 in summer, now I find out I could get this. Bugger. I think I'l just stick with dual 21" CRT's for now.
